You're a nice lady.
That would be a path to immediate legalization.
Academic repeat of experiments run in the early 60's (by Tim Leary and Richard Alpertin) hope of spawning a new counter culture. Peace, Love and Flower Power, man. Der.
Thanks. I'm a 6' 0", 220 pound male.
In my wilder college days I also had a few run ins with the magic shrooms.
Same here but I can't say they enlightened me much.
Yes, but there were also those who thought they could fly or stop cars with their bare hands.
My (few) experiences have been nothing but positive.. I can't say whether they enlightened me much in general, but they definitely had an impact. I will say I felt somehow more intensely connected to the people I was with at the time.
As an aside... If any other young people are reading this, I'd avoid doing them with someone you don't want that sort of connection with. (i.e. someone you don't like; or, probably more importantly, someone you don't implicitly trust).
That probably sounded weird, but oh well.
I have flown & stopped cars with my bare hands.
Of course, I was in an airplane when I flew & the car was doing about 1 mph.
The..the Colors!
Was stalked by a feral pig.
Talked to trees.
Saw the universe in an over-BBQ'd Polska Kielbasa.
But somehow I emerged from my cocoon-of-ignorance as an ultraconservative with a deep disdain for hippies. Go figure.
Baloney.
What this article would categorize as mystical experiences, I had during a bout of encephalitis. Wasn't life-altering, but not unpleasant either, and that's more than you can say about some aspects of encephalitis. I would call those experiences extraordinary and fascinating, but then, I've seen doorknobs I could call that.
As for out-of-body sensations, you can just lie on your back on the rooftop and stare at an overcast evening sky and get the same voyage. I've had wrong numbers that were more fun.
(Full disclosure: Never did drugs, though I'm a boomer. 'Taint legal.)
Lol. I don't think this sort of thing has much to do with hippies or ignorance anymore. It's a chemically induced hallucination and isn't much of a path to objective truth, in my experience.
I've only eaten 'shrooms with siblings and close friends, and in the end there was an oddly enhanced sense of love and understanding. I don't claim to know why, but it didn't end when the chemicals were gone, and it doesn't seem illusory (nor was I alone in that experience).
In the early '70s after eating a bag of 'shrooms I scarfed 7 hotdogs at a Phillies game to try to bring myself down, and then on the way home watched the graffiti on the subway swirl around and move from car to car. I liked peyote much better.
I don't know about psilocybin, but I find I've grown considerably since the beings from Arcturus 4 began beaming their broadcasts into my brain through the fillngs in my teeth.
better living through chemicals, man.
