Don't worry, it's all Marxist drivel.
I was in the same BN as Stan Goff in 3SFG. He was and is a nut. He is also former Delta. His Book about Haiti was BS, I did all 3 Ops there.
I was thinking the same thing. Show me someone who is hung-up on 'gender roles' and I'll show you a fugitive from 'Don't ask/Don't tell'.

A famous quote from Goff, "Make no mistake about it, I'm as red as a baboon's ass."
The people that expose military frauds need to take a look at this guy.
Sorry to bust your bubble....
I don't know Hathaway, but I do know Goff. He was a medic in my company in 7th Group...in 1991.
He also spent a tour in Delta.
I don't know....all SF medics are strange...maybe he sampled some of his own drugs.
I am ashamed to say it, but Stan Goff has never made a major claim about his military credentials that is not true. He did serve in SF. He was a team sergeant during the invasion of Haiti, where he was relieved for cause.
I do not know the story on his relief from a JSOC unit; they do have a bad tendency to just expel their dirtbags and leave other units to clean up their mess, as anyone who served in SF in the nineties can tell you.
All along his career, Goff was so far left he was over the edge (just like he is now). But he soldiered acceptably, and there's no political litmus test. After all, most SF guys are on the other end politically, but served Clinton and Carter as loyally as they did Reagan and Bush.
SF is a home of eccentrics, and you do get the occasional liberal, and the occasional guy who talks nonsense just to stir the you-know-what. Apparently Goff's leftism is sincere. Goff did serve in the units he claims. However, I didn't look at the Wikipedia bio, because Wikipedia is usually crap. Find a bio Goff wrote himself, there are enough of them online.
He does lie about some circumstances of his service, but he does not lie about units, qualifications, or operations as far as I have seen.
I never heard of the other clown, Hathaway. Sounds like he's got a bad case of the love that dare not speak its name.
A third SF lefty is a dirtbag named John Young. Young went over to the other side while he was in NVA prison, like Garwood. He helped the NVA interrogate and even torture his fellow prisoners, in return for trustee privileges and extra food. He and five other turncoats were charged by USAF Col. Ted Guy, but Guy was pressured to withdraw the charges, and the six traitors were let go, except for one, a Marine named Abel, who killed himself first. (I'm sure our Marine bros feel about him like we in SF feel about Young and Goff).
It's a free country. And not everybody in SF serves honourably, unfortunately. SO it's not surprising the lefties can dig up a couple.
It's not surprising that they get the book contracts, either.
