Given how close the election is, why would he resign if the chat was completely made up? He knows what he wrote and didn't write and who he wrote it to.
Yes it would. It would improve their stature among their base.
"..Then the question becomes: When did the Democrats know about this? If Foley is a child predator and the Democrats found out and sat on it until it benefitted them politically, then how many children did they put at risk for their political gain?"
BINGO!! The American people will not like the dems doing something so sick one little bit!
--the email is dated July 29 2005.--
Hmmmmmm...a forgery? Could this be another 'RaTHergate' moment?
Yes, or at least that is how i read it, see post #329
What were the (presumably female) prostitutes for then?
"It would not be the first time a Republican was slandered and framed close to an election."
No, it would not. However, with what little was made public, there is NO way he would have resigned if he were innocent. He's a popular incumbent. They couldn't have touched him with such vague crap as evidence.
No...he is afraid of what further investigation will turn up.
Okay, but his biggest crime may be that he uses AOL!
I missed "Hannibal's" post, but thanks for standing up for us "old-timers".
Are you this naive? He RESIGNED.
Does it mention Katrina specifically? (my pdf viewer is not cooperating) There was a pretty nasty tropical storm Cindy early July.
ABC news uncovered explicit IM's from
Foley to a boy. Foley wasn't too bright to IM as if they can't be saved...
2006 is shaping up to be the Year of the Idiot Republicans. First Tom Delay, Katherine Harris, Bob Ney, Conrad Burns, Don Sherwood, Randy Graf, and now Mark Foley. We keep giving Nacy Pelosi all these free gifts.
You guys must both be have histories Marketing. LOL
It appears that FLorida law will allow a replacement candidate. However, because the primary election results were certified, Foley's name will remain on the ballot and the replacement candidate will get all of his votes.
His district is West Palm Beach. DRAFT RUSH LIMBAUGH!
The only real problem I would notice is that some voters may be a tad unwilling to vote for the child perv, even if they know that they'll be getting someone else. And then there's the obvious fundraising issues. The Dem is self-funding.
We have the rules under the Florida locale for a replacement for Foley. Change to Florida locale and read it there...
The fact that he dropped out might indicate a deeper current than the released e-mails indicate.
Agreed, but if the kid had incriminating emails, I'm sure those would have been leaked.
I'm sure the Florida legislature meant this to mean no opposition from within the party, but do you suppose a Democrat lawyer can try to muck things up by arguing that the Democrats are opposed to the nominee, and then going to the courts to get a ruling on the meaning of the law, just to delay things past the election?
