Strictly speaking, a pedophile is attracted to prepubescent boys; a pederast is attracted to adolescent boys; an ephebophile is attracted to young men (17-21).

This is not about being gay, or about being anything. It is about acting. It is about soliciting sex on the Internet with an underage Senate Page.

What do you think should be done? My gut reaction at the moment is to get the leadership who knew about this to resign en masse, and put good solid, new folks in. Make leadership about being leaders, not about amount of time served.

We have some great people in the house. A person who was not in the house for a decade or two wouldn't have covered this up. I truly believe that. We need term limits.

GOP should get on this right away condemning these allegations and then picking a solid responsible candidate that supports the party's values.

Of course he should have resigned. If he were in any matter innocent, if the leaked e-nails were the only evidence he would have held fast. He knows more of his disgusting, revolting sexual interest in minors was coming out.

"one set of circumstances resulted in their homosexuality while a separate set of circumstances resulted in their pedophilia"

Both are coming out of the same brain, aren't they, so it's really a moot point which area of the brain the "impulses" are coming from. The end result is the same: homosexuality and pedophilia, two cousins housed within the same sick mind.

I'm not interested in any HEDGING on this; if they covered it up, they need to go.

You think that anybody who knew about those e-mails should resign?

Boehner's already been caught in one lie today; should we go for two or more?

Hastert Drives Effort To 'Keep Kids Safe In Cyberspace'

The jokes just write themselves these days.

I think they should. Not that Foley shouldn't have been able to keep his seat until there was a good investigation.

It is the fact that the leaders knew about these emails and kept him on the missing and exploited kids subcommittee.

An analogy: A cop shoots a bad guy. It doesn't matter if you know it was righteous, aren't sure, or you think it was a bad shoot. The guy gets desk duty until the investigation is over.

Leaving Foley on this committee is inexcusable and is horrific leadership. Anybody who knew, and didn't do anything does need to go. Foley is responsible for what he did, but the leadership is supposed to lead. They apparently didn't. If true, we need new leaders.

I'm sure this was not the first boy he solicited on the Internet, or the first IMs and e-mail saved. Lord only knows what will be coming out now.

This man held the public trust and violated it. Apparantly, the incoming Page class in the Senate was warned about him. When will people stop covering for these low lifes? Being an enabler is almost as bad as committing the act oneself.

While searching, I came across a liberal blog site. They are asking where all the outrage is and insisting we are going to give him a pass "just like they always do".

I know they live in an alternate universe, but WTF? When have we every given any of our guys a pass?

The kid definitely has "issues"

Obviously, they do not give prospective Senate Pages an IQ test.

Everything I've seen says it was the St. Petersburg Times that got the e-mail first last November.

Thanks kristinn. I must have been mistaken.

That is another issue I haven't seen much addressed on. WHO warned the pages to avoid Foley? Who knew? I can't believe that in America, pages who are minors have to get secret warnings to avoid a congressman for sexual contact, and the leadership does nothing, except lie like Boehner did earlier? I have been yelling about Hastert mostly, but Boehner has now been proved to have lied, today within hours getting caught. Lying seems to be a sign of guilt. I think after they reflect this week-end, they will know they violated our trust, and most importantly the trust of the kids who serve our country as pages.

At least one article tonight mentioned that they were told by an intern or interns.
