Personally, I'm getting to like this Pope more and more. He is cracking down on the tolerance towards pedophiles that the last Pope seemed to turn a blind eye to and isn't playing the politcally correct game with the Muslims. Too bad the press is made up of such idiots. Instead of chastising the Pope, they should be applauding him for saying what most of us already know.

I'm Jewish and I sure appreciate what the Pope is doing. He's waking up a lot of people and the over-the-top reactions of the Muslims is helping

The Popes description of the Islamic God as being unbound by reason is not an insult, it is an Islamic article of faith. What Muslims and secularists fear is the Popes decision to choose to enter dialogue asserting his belief in Christianity. How dare he not apologize for being a Christian? That is the so-called insult. Catholic Ping List

I'm Protestant (former Catholic) and was very, VERY pleasantly surprised to see he grew a pair!
Unfortunately, he seems to have lost them rather quickly...

What the Islamists and the New York Times both fear is having to reply to the Popes key point, borrowed from the Byzantine Emperor: Not to act reasonably, not to act with logos (word or reason) is contrary to the nature of God,.
It is to this great logos, to this breadth of reason, that we invite our partners in the dialogue of cultures. Their fear of reason can only lead the world to disaster.
Excellent analysis! Bookmarked!

As a Roman Catholic woman, I find your phraseology to be unbecoming. Thanks for weighing in with your remarks, they are soooooooo helpful.

This would place raging mobs of semi-literate Islamist thugs in the position of forcing the leader of Christendom to bow before them. OMG, he's nailed it.
This is so GOOD, thank you.

According to CNN.com (unless I'm reading it wrong), the Pope has finally apologized to Islam for his remarks saying he didn'r even believe the old writings he quoted! Tll me I read it wrong!!

"While the Islamists represent their demented version of God--unrestrained by reason, the secularists represent their demented version of reason--unrestrained by God."
I have seldom seen a more succinct description of the common denominator between these two appparently contradictory philosophies.

To use a 'Western' analogy, the Vatican bowing to Islamic demands to issue a statement of apology is akin to dancing while the nearby ground is being shot at. To now try and force an apology from the Pope himself is the same, except while using instead an AK-47. This is all happening in a climate where around the world, EVERY DAY, some 20 to 40 (on the average) non-muslims are murdered by muslims. [See

Nice explanation of the intricacies in the Pope's statements that so many morons refuse, or can't, grasp.

This current episode of overreaction by the "Muslim world" to Pope Benedict's comments is par for the course. The "Muslim world" is out of sync with modernity. Their culture is clearly substandard compared to Western civilization's societies and culture.

Well, as of this morning, the Pope's apologized...sort of. His spokesperson groveled, so maybe that will mollify the ROP. Probably not, though. The Pope mentioned Mohammed by name, although reading a 16th century Pope's message and putting in a larger context. (Something about dialogue being a good thing. When the other fellow is sharpening a knife he intends to use to behead you would seem to make further dialogue pointless. Our time would be better spent whipping out a gun and shooting him dead as in that famous scene in Indiana Jones. Talking heads on TV this am admitting we should've done something about Iran some time ago. Oh, well, the MSM will tell us it's youknowwho's fault. We won't hear one word about dems screaming for dialogue and UN sanctions, delay, delay while Iran processed uranium.)
