The motive was perfectly clear.
Introduction of fear and intimidation to an organization that is not in the business of combat or clandestine intrigue.
Once fear and intimidation are established, then the purposes of the SOS hospital facilities are available for the support of the activities of the armed mob that operates under the cover of the shar'ia law that is the only controlling legal authority in the region.
Oh, yeah, and punish the Pope for his intemperate outburst about the lack of anger management among Muslims.
I also want to point out that this talk was given as a lecture to a bunch of theologians and was in the context of HOW TO HAVE DIALOGUE, and the emphasis was on the use of reason. It was not a direct attack on Islam, but rather an explanation of why, in order to have a dialogue, people must use reason.
It is quite obvious to me that some in the press took a comment out of context and ran to their Islamic sources for a reaction. Those people in Somalia and Pakistan aren't watching Vatican TV nor are they reading the speech on the Vatican web site. Someone went to them and said "here's what the Pope said, could I get your reaction?"
And so, in my opinion, the press has the death of this good sister on their pea-sized consciences. The press is becoming as much an enemy of civilization as the jihadists.
Moslems kill to please their god, and Christians heal.
Pretty clear which God is which.
The Lakota had an interesting technique of staking an enemy to the ground and building a small campfire on his bare chest. That kind of punishment would take some of the fun out of being a Muslim murderer of innocents.
Yeah, tell me again just HOW this shows that Islam is NOT a religion of violence? (Monstrous is just the right word, MadIvan.)
All the Pope's apologies in the world are not going to remove their much wanted excuses to create havoc.
Once he had said the words, he should have stood behind them. You cannot appease terrorists. At least Bush has an army and nukes behind him. The Pope doesn't.
"The motive for the attack remains unknown"
Wrong. This is the beginning of the murder of Christians for what the Pope said. The dominantly-left media will refuse to say what is really happening.
What kind of cowards shoot nuns in the back, strap bombs on their underage children, take schoolchildren hostage and torture and murder them?
The proponents of a violent ideology of death and destruction.
Will more civilized people finally realize what they are dealing with?
(Manuel II Paelologus)
I am a firm believer in the idea we need a Jack Bauer to deal out pain to these people.
Hi MadIvan,nice to see you:)
Ping
That would be funny if it weren't sickeningly true.
Savages.
The Religion of Peace of course! grrr
This outrage should signal everyone in the humanitarian aid business that their services are no longer appreciated or needed by these willingly stupid and ignorant goatdingers. They should be abandoned to the merciless and incestuous system they have created for themselves, and left to die miserable deaths by whichever plague or famine that comes along next.
The milk of human kindness is too good for these scum.
A nun carrying for the sick and hurt is gunned down by Islamics, filled with hate and vengence.
Seems pretty clear to me.
You and I had the same idea; check out my new tag.
These are the people that John McCain and the Democrats want to protect from any tough questioning when they are in our custody.

UNIDENTIFIED gunmen shot and killed an elderly Italian nun at a hospital in the Islamist-controlled Somali capital, witnesses and medical workers said.
The attackers entered the Austrian-funded SOS Hospital in southern Mogadishu's Huriwa District and opened fire, killing the nun before escaping in the ensuing confusion, they said.
They came into the compound and shot the nun and then ran away, one medical worker said.
We don't know who they were.
The nun, believed to be in her 70s, was one the longest-serving foreign members of the Catholic church in Somalia, a former Italian colony, officials said.
Details of the incident were sketchy and there was no immediate indication of a possible motive for the attack but it came amid fury among Somalia's powerful Islamist movement over comments made by Pope Benedict XVI deemed insulting to Islam.
On Friday, a prominent hardline Mogadishu cleric called for Muslims to hunt down and kill the pontiff for his remarks.
Whoever offends our Prophet Mohammed should be killed on the spot by the nearest Muslim, Sheikh Abubukar Hassan Malin told worshippers at a mosque in southern Mogadishu.
We call on all Islamic communities across the world to take revenge on the baseless critic called the Pope, he said.
Well-put.
