Anyone remembers how many cars and industry existed 12 million years ago that caused THAT global warming? (/sarc)

A 30-mile maze canyons in Antarctica was carved out of bedrock by the catastrophic draining of subglacial lakes during global warming between 12 million and 14 million years ago,It was all those damn mastadons driving around in their SUVs. Serves them right that they went extinct.

Couldn't have been caused by gaseous emissions - they didn't even have a Congress back then.

It seems a similar event happened repeatedly in the American Northwest during the last Ice Age.

I guess the modern environmentalist would prefer Earth never exited the last Ice Age. Just think - Ted Kennedy would not have been able to drown Mary Jo if Martha's Vineyard was under 4,000 feet of ice.

The North American glaciation is still going on ~ we are in what is called an "interglacial period".
During the very long intervals between the "interglacial periods" the glaciation peaks wax and wane creating repeated major melt events at the margins.

Pff... everyone knows cars weren't invented 12 million years ago.... it was Bush's fault. Don't joke around like that. There is at least one eyewitness to this event 12 million years ago who may well blame it on Bush:
