Looks like the Culture of Death fifth column on FR has hijacked the keywords list on the thread.

YEP, I have. I've observed this before on FR. It seems to be a favorite tactic, maybe because of a severely limited ability to engage in an honest debate, to globally attack other FReepers with differing opinions by impugning their intelligence...most noted in those who think Mr. Bush is perfect and beyond critique. I have absolutely no use for that type of intellectual misfortune.

The belief is no truly saved person can "fall" back. The strength of true faith in Christ the Redeemer sustains the believer through all travails. One is never tested beyond their ability (with Christ's help) to endure in the faith. If one "falls" they were never truly in the faith in the first place. It is easy to claim the faith when there is nothing to risk but difficult when all may be lost. That is the test that caused ever Peter to slip (but not fall). This is not to say that the most "pious" cannot sin. We continue to sin and those in the faith are convicted of the need to continually seek forgiveness. Sinning is not falling from grace for the true believer.

You offered, "The belief is no truly saved person can "fall" back." The fundamental reason for that is based in whom has the power to guarantee your Salvation. If you remaining in the faith and thus not 'losing your Salvation' is based on your ability to keep what God has given to you, Satan would win 99.999% of the time and Salavation would have your ability as a portion of the efficacy. God intends that ONLY His Son receive the glory, so your Salavation once you thank Him for Saving you is His responsibility to retain you in Him. And we ought fall on our faces to thank Him that He has promised to keep us. Thanks be to God.

God's plan fo Salvation for you and for me was so astonishingly simple and perfect for amplifying faith that He kept it a secret until He had brought it into reality in His Son. That simplicity is what made it possible for Satan to tempt Eve with a pride-centered argument. The perfection of His plan is what makes Satan so very furious at humankind. And pride is what keeps so many from accepting the greatest gift for humankind evolution in the spiritual realm.

OK, I have to chime in here for this one.

Peach, it is a disservice to your fellow Freepers to call them names....like mentally unstable just because they don't believe in birth control.

Some people don't want birth control devices or pills and that is their right.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with that....

If a husband/wife mutally agree not to use birth control....that is their decision.

And it is true, some forms of birth control pills can act as an abortifacient, and many find that unacceptable.

So I'm presuming you saw the posts to which I was referring -- the president has blood on his hands. He's a liar, etc.

I guess you're on board with that.

If I remember correctly, only one poster said it, and I don't even remember who it was.

However, there were many folks on this thread who have strong, religious beliefs and and heartfelt positions.....and you can not negate their comments just because you don't agree.

I love my President.....he has been consistently pro-life...

..but I am confused/stunned by this new decision he has made.

James Dobson of Focus on the Family is equally upset.

I believe President Bush has stumbled on this one....but I would never call him a liar or call him any derogatory names at all....

...and I suggest you give your fellow Freepers the same consideraton.

Well maybe if they had just disagreed with me instead of name calling, I would have given them the same consideration. But plenty of them were quite derogatory to both me and another freeper who showed up on this thread to defend the decision and the president. But I notice you conveniently haven't taken them to task because I happen to have different views than they do. Interesting.

I have gone back and re-read this entire thread. The name calling that took place was started by and almost exclusively engaged in by you. In between rounds of sycophantic backslapping with a couple other posters you repeatedly referred to those of us who disagreed with you as "neanderthals", "mentally unstable", "mullahs" and "whiners". All the while, you continually misrepresented the facts of how Plan B works and ignored posters who questioned you.

I couldn't give a rat's butt what you think of my position or what names you call me or other actual pro-lifers, but your revisionist history of what transpired on this thread should give anyone who cares a good idea of the veracity they can expect from you.

You must have terribly selective reading skills because I went back and re-read the thread too and you couldn't be more wrong.

The hyperbole engaged in from freepers that the president has blood on his hands, it's going to be another holocaust and he's a liar were met with strong statements by me.

It's one thing for people whose religion forbids birth control to refuse to use it in their personal lives; it's another thing altogether when their beliefs try to condemn entire generations of women (and the president) when their beliefs don't so dictate.

As to ignoring the "evidence"; I've read it and that you all don't understand that fertilization can take 72 hours to occur, that the birth control pill does the exact same thing was quite clear.

a true believer will not lose salvation for sins, but what about someone who has turned their back on Christ?

if we say someone was never saved in the first place, then where's the security in Christ? How do we know we are saved? I desire to serve the Lord - maybe I'm not saved.

My point is security in Christ is great. Scripture teaches both the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man.

in the end, no one knows but God.

(John 15:6-7) "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."

Yes, here is another slap in the face of the Religious Right.
The GOP will be lucky to get them to the polls this November, not to even mention in 2008.

I never cease being amazed at how easily the human mind with pride activated can take that passage in John 15:6-7 and make it appear to authorize 'Jesus + my masterful dancing is what gets me to Heaven'. Since you are so easily deceived if God's Holy Spirit is not whispering constantly in your ear, just how capable do you think you are of 'keeping yourself Saved'?

Your salvation is your responsibility but I cannot accept that someone accepts Christ as their Savior and Son of God and then rejects him. That is not logical. Their faith was flawed from the beginning if they cannot abide in Him. (Satan accepts the Christ is the Son of God but rejects him as Saviour and this is the unforgiveable sin) As for quoting scripture, you must be aware there are different opinions on "falling from Grace" in the Christian community and most claim scriptural support. However I suggest you reread the last part of your quote. There is no temporary status implied there, "abide in me" is a permanent status. If you are once saved it is not possible to "turn your back" on the Lord for His Word is "abiding in you" and that is the true commitment of salvation. To turn your back on the Lord would mean you believe He is not worthy of your affection...How could a believer reach the conclusion that the Savior is not worthy? To be angry with God is a sin but a sin can be forgiven and is not the same as rejection. Salvation is the gift of the Lord, Sin is the responsibility of man and has little to do with salvation.
All my personal beliefs and I have no interest in trying convince anyone to agree. However, it must be a terrible thing to be unsure of one's own salvation and that is something I will never again have to face, by the Grace of our Saviour. God bless you.
