You betcha, I'm ready. I don't want my grandchildren shot in the back of their heads by some insane, maniac Muslim. The POTUS is elected to protect America and Americans. GW Bush has fought a PC war in Iraq and let the scum and vermin Democrats manipulate him. He had a golden opportunity to destroy both Syria and Iran and he blew it. You think his poll numbers are low now. Give it a few days. GW has jumped the shark!!! If he hasn't then show me!!!

That would be impossible given your anatomical blinders.

But Israel has been unable to defeat Hezbollah and was concerned about growing Israeli casualties, as well as international condemnation, if the war continued. It is hard to underestimate the madness contained in this one sentence. At what point did a free nation's right to self-defense become contingent on the approval of the international community?

Obviously, there's no way Hezbollah will live up to their obligations.
There has to be some kind of strategy involved like chess-playing, something is going on behind the scenes. The agreement refers to Hezbollah directly as starting the hostilities, and directly requiring the disarmament of Hezbollah. Hezbollah will pay for their evil.

I'm beginning to think that Olmert begged us to push this through so he could stop those uncivilized warmongers in his cabinet. Olmert cannot see this was it truly is, only in the can't we all get along mentality of the Left.
(do I really need to add that I am stating what I believe is his point of view?)

"no, Olmert wanted this endgame all along."
I tend to agree. If we go back to the beginning of all of this Israel just wanted to push back Hezbollah out of range and to weaken them so an international force with some muscle could come in and disarm them. Then it became clear that no international force could do the job and Isreal had no choice but to do it. But actually that was not what Israel wanted to do. Then it became clear that it was really too late for Israel and that they would take very high casualties. So Olmert went for the resolution that we have now. Is that how you see it more or less?

Hezbollah will earnestly accept and abide by all conditions and restraints placed on them. They followed the agreements to some degree until this capturing of Israeli soldiers. It was a big Hezbollah's miscalculation as Israel HAD to react strongly in order to keep the face. But I think that Sharon would calibrate the response more deftly.

Is Hezbollah a government??? Hezbollah is a semi-government as it represents the largest Lebanese community.

Here's a peek at the political ramifications, should anything terrible happen to Israel. The noisiest and most often heard commenters are in a fringe minority.
Most Americans Support Right of Jews to Live and Build in Judea-Samaria
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/927783/posts June 10, 2003
"
By a margin of nearly five to one, Americans oppose the Bush administration's demand to halt all further Jewish construction in Judea-Samaria (the West Bank) and Gaza . . . The poll, carried out by John McLaughlin & Associates, surveyed a scientific sample of 1,000 American adults on May 21, 2003."
And here's another indication against most of the noise.

"This was the time to destroy Syria and Iran and we let it slip away. God have mercy on the horrors about to befall the USA and Israel. GW Bush has let the American people down."
Now wait go back one month. Israel never said they wanted to go into Syria. NEVER. In fact they said they did NOT want to go into Syria. That's what the talking heads in America wanted them to do. What Israel wanted was a force with muscle and a resoultion with provisnons to keep Syria from giving arms to Hez.
Who are we and Bush to tell Israel how to run their war?
To: familyop
I figure if it comes down to a GOP choice between Gingrich and Tancredo it won't much matter to me. I'll be getting rich selling snow tires and running a ski resort in Syria...cause Hell would have done froze over.

More Catholic than the Pope? Israeli Jews are less hawkish.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert thanked President Bush on Friday for his work on a resolution to stop violence between Israel and Hezbollah, the White House said. Sad just sad.
There are no other words.
This whole affair has been like slow motion train crash.

It's already his fault, Olmert accepting the deal that is. Condi Rice works for the President. I just saw the video of her raising her hand to vote yes on the resolution.
Great sadness, and it will come to no good, and lots of bad things will flow from it. Even if it is never implemented.

"This Olmert character must be lame-duck...maybe when the Israeli's meet on Sunday, they'll s$#t-can the fool."
Not in the least. Both GWB and Olmert [or their advisers at the least] have surely read that while one is doing what is needed to be done [even if that something is rather unpleasant and dirty business, and especially if it is an unpleasant and dirty business] , it is of vital importance to appear as upright as possible, to say all the right words and to go through all the right motions. You obviously need a refresher on 'the Prince".
