I understand. We could use it also. Not as bad as it's been for you all though. LI has rain and it completely misses us. Our water bill is going to be high this time around. I hope you get a good rain soon! :)

but there are some of us good folks here too.
There are some faboulious folks up there.
I've had projects in Buffalo, and Waterford (just outside of Albany). I've met some grand people up there and made some good friends.
I did learn two things though.
1) Don't order iced tea.
2) Don't ask for separate checks.

Funny you should mention this. I had a visitor this past weekend from out of state. A group of us, had gone to lunch. I let them handle the bill. I'd pay however they decided.
My visitor, from out of state, broke down the bill for each person. I thought that was good because I didn't drink alcohol and they charge $7.00 a drink. :) There was a person there, also from NY, making faces across the table to me. I just pretended not to see. LOL :)

We are all on expenses so we need a receipt.
That was the first request I've ever made at a restaurant where they told me "NO". I was stunned.
I, like you, don't drink alcohol either so I hate to "split the bill", then have to explain why I don't have a receipt for a dinner that costs about three times what it should.
Anyway, being sort of ingenious, we quickly learned to all sit at separate tables to order, then join up at one table to eat.
The waitresses REALLY don't like this, but I don't like their attitude either, so the tip is usually inversely proportional to the hard time they give me. (And I am usually a good tipper).
