All good questions. Unfortunately, this whole mess is in a 'wait and see' mode.
By the time I get back from Poker this evening, WW3 could be in full swing??
_____
Then losing some money tonight won't be so bad ;-)
9 Proclaim this among the nations:
Prepare for war!
Rouse the warriors!
Let all the fighting men draw near and attack.
10 Beat your plowshares into swords
and your pruning hooks into spears.
Let the weakling say,
"I am strong!"
11 Come quickly, all you nations from every side,
and assemble there.
Bring down your warriors, O LORD!
12 "Let the nations be roused;
let them advance into the Valley of Jehoshaphat,
for there I will sit
to judge all the nations on every side.
13 Swing the sickle,
for the harvest is ripe.
Come, trample the grapes,
for the winepress is full
and the vats overflow
so great is their wickedness!"
14 Multitudes, multitudes
in the valley of decision!
For the day of the LORD is near
in the valley of decision.
15 The sun and moon will be darkened,
and the stars no longer shine.
16 The LORD will roar from Zion
and thunder from Jerusalem;
the earth and the sky will tremble.
But the LORD will be a refuge for his people,
a stronghold for the people of Israel.
Joel 3: 9-16
I don't recommend trying to stop a multi-corps armored force with a pincers composed of a light AB unit, even if the other arm matches the invading force.
Good way to lose an entire AB unit.
53 miles from the front lines to the drop zone, FWIW.
Psalm 83
A song. A psalm of Asaph.
1 O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still.
2 See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.
4 Come, they say, let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more.
5 With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
8 Even Assyria has joined them to lend strength to the descendants of Lot.
9 Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
10 who perished at Endor and became like refuse on the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 who said, Let us take possession of the pasture-lands of God.
13 Make them like tumble-weed, O my God, like chaff before the wind.
14 As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
15 so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm.
16 Cover their faces with shame so that men will seek your name, O LORD.
17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace.
18 Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD that you alone are the Most High over all the earth
to punch Assad in the gut, but not to decapitate
Remember, ISRAEL already has armour operating in the south valley areas, blocking the entrance to Southern Lebanon south of the Litani...
Not really, what he said as much as his demeaner. Distracted? Worried?
I know what you mean...my dust bunnies are bigger than my dog.
AMEN TO THAT Knitting.
And those for whom there's no hope due to their deeply chosen evil--may they depart this life soonest rather than rack up greater punishment for themselves.

Remember that Hail Mary in Desert Storm I. They used the 101st in the same way.
But what will Syria do?
My brother... where have you been?

How reliable is this guy????
"I have just hung up the phone with a good friend of mine who has relayed the following info to me. The
Syrian Army has passed the word down from Assad that today sometime between now current time in
Israel is 11:40pm (23:30) and the morning Israel will attack Syria."

Three sources, remember?
I'm not sure "some guy" Yoni knows even counts as one whole one, maybe 0.5, fair enough?
Hope for the best, plan for the worst, insist on three sources before acting on information.
Thanks so much dinasour...I couldn't get the streaming video.
Not that you asked for my 2 cents, but I watched the Tony Snow briefing at c-span for today: He looked very tired, but he did mention at the beginning that "we just got in yesterday." I think he is suffering from a whole lotta travel fatigue. The press corps really didn't go after him today, something out of the ordinary!! :)
