"The Passion of the Christ" was not slighted, it wasn't a Hollywood movie of high enough caliber to win an Academy Award. In Hollywood they look for very specific things in a film, and ancient Aramaic isn't one of them.
The nitwits who made "Brokebutt Mountain" claim they were slighted as well, and I don't buy it. If either movie would have won, it would be a travesty on the level of "Chicago" winning.

Yes, he is an idiot and has a drinking problem but to call him a bad actor and worse director is, in my opinion, incorrect.Lay off Hitchens. He was probably drunk when he wrote this :)

Exactly, some freepers also have selective outrage.
Nothing to see here folks, move on!

Apparently you missed "Hamlet". Not to mention the range of emotions (from A to B) exhibited in Road Warrior...

"Once, many, many, many years ago, I got drunk and, for some reason, decided that the people who lived in a house I was walking by were communists. I yelled for them to come out of their house, and continually beat their bushes in frustration, as a friend looked on in a combination of revulsion and amazement. " Alcohols a truth serum, blocks inhibitions. We say stupid things, but rarely things we dont believe on some level. Regarding your drunk, you have issues with communists, but not your neighbors. Mel has issues with Jew, but not the cops.
Youll rarely find more evidence for something someone wants to hide than that.

An unabashed hit-piece. Hitchens has in his arrogance revealed more about himself than his subject.

Yeah, what with his new movie "Apocalypto" coming out soon enough....

It wasn't 8 pages long it was only 4 pages long. The PDF file is out there. Once the policeman checked the box that the suspect was beligerant he is supposedly to tell how ... including Mel's trying to run away. He did.
Funny, how mug shots are so easy to get. We got Nicky Nolte's (also from Malibu Police Department) ... wonder why we can't get Mel's mug shot.
To: Hildy
As a current drunk, I agree with you.

If my living depended on the public choosing to buy me product I sure wouldn't use slurs in public (especially if that product was based on my own moral convictions.)

While it doesn't excuse Gibson, anyone here think we'd see the same coverage of a TimRobbins/SusanSarandon/BabsStreisand/GeorgeClooney traffic stop, no matter WHAT they said?
