US Navy Ship Anchors Off Coast of Lebanon
By JOE PANOSSIAN, 07.20.2006, 01:10 AM

The USS Nashville anchored off the coast of Lebanon Thursday morning prepared to receive some 1,200 Americans fleeing fighting to take them to Cyprus.

An Associated Press Television cameraman mounted a beach 12 kilometers (7.46 miles) north of the capital Beirut on board a landing craft that will ferry passengers to the vessel approximately 300 at a time.

A group of Americans began boarding the landing craft beached in front of the Le Royale hotel, an employee of the hotel told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to give statements to the media.

Thanks, crAP, for giving away logistics information!

I have feeling that there are many things going on behind the diplomatic scenes that we don't know about. Little deadlines keep looming and then pass without consequence. Things that were not supposed to be able to get done are getting done.

I'm glad, obviously, when they're in favor of Americans' safety, but I hope no one is giving away the store. I don't think they are, but they're not asking my advice, so I feel left out of the loop, lol!

At any rate, I feel like this "demand" is a coded result of something we or they have agreed to behind closed doors and may not be what it seems.

Some people love to wear the tin foil hats and drink the koolaid, and others like Occam's Razor...

I saw only a brief story on that, earlier today. Was the 11-day-old child born in Lebanon - did anyone ever say?

Without seeing the article, it could just be a spinning about the requests people made for Israel to practice restraint with their attacks to avoid civilian casualties...

But there is always more going on behind the scenes than we are told about.

BEIRUT, Lebanon (CNN) -- New explosions shook Beirut early Thursday, hours after Israeli warplanes dropped 23 tons of bombs on a bunker where Hezbollah leaders were holed up, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

The explosions Thursday reportedly were caused by new Israeli airstrikes, but that could not be immediately confirmed.

Hezbollah said via its Al-Manar television station that none of its leaders was in the bunker at the time of the huge Israeli airstrike. Hezbollah earlier said Israel hit a religious center with the attack.

Dozens of bombs landed at about 11:30 p.m. (4:30 p.m. ET), the IDF said. CNN crews in Beirut said they didn't hear any explosions or the sound of jets at the time the strike is said to have occurred.

"Anchored off the coast" was what that first story said, which I quoted.

Then, to top it all off, Michael Savage today even went to the extreme of accusing the Israeli government and the Bush Administration of wanting to prod Iran into a nuclear attack on Israel so that the hundreds of thousand of dead would justify a retaliatory strike on Iran.

Oh, good freakin' grief. There are some real strange people out there.

"To the best of my knowledge, NO senior bunker rat Hezziebully has appeared on live TV/radio since the attack."

Speaking of the no-shows,,,anybody heard from Bin Laden or his monkey man Al-Zawawawwawaiii? Surely they must have something very important to say about all this/sarc.

Did you not catch Simon Peres on Larry King tonight? He said more or less they knew that nobody was in the place where they bombed.

With those Iranian S to S missles around, I'd be nervous enough about dropping anchor anywhere near the coast, let alone tieing something like that up where some gomer in an explosives-laden rubber boat could get at it.

Big boat sending little boats and helicopters to shore makes a lot of sense to me. I just wish the media hadn't published the embarkation point quite as quickly.

I'm sure most of you have seen the pics from the anti-Israel pro-terrorist rally in NYC. Why are these people allowed to stay in this country? They are openly advocating treason and the overthrow of the constitution to be replaced by Islamofascism.
