Aha, a Texan to tell this to. NBC News was just talking with some American students stranded in the airport in Beirut. (That's what they *said* - Beirut.)
One girl they talked to goes to American U and was blogging on her laptop. They said she was from NATCH - UH - TOE - CHUZ, Texas.
Now, I don't know if she was from Nacogdoches, TX, or from Natchitoches, LA - but either way, they were so far wrong on their pronunciation, they obviously didn't hear her *say* her hometown to them.
How do they come up with this stuff? Did she *say* Nack-uh-doe-chuz - or did she *say* Nack-uh-tawsh? She obviously did not say anything that started with "Natch." What in the world did they write down in their notes to mangle it so badly? Grrr.
CNN PIPELINE has a feed from NBN of S Beirut...I saw one explosion about 20 minutes ago...there goes another one.....sounds like stereo!
