"I did some work for some of these gypsies from Princeton University 25 or so years ago. They had the Tokamak reactor and were confident then that fusion was only five or so years away --- as long as they kept getting funding from Uncle Sam and the corporations. ;~(("

Every entrepreneur I've ever known was overconfident of their abilities to make something happen. It's what makes them get up in the morning. And it's ultimately what makes them successful.

There does need to be oversight. There needs to be a plan for the research, specific problems that must be overcome, strategies to attempt to overcome those, etc. And from what I've read in the press, there has been progress.

These guys are the furthest you can get from being entrepreneurs. There entire existence is based on research grants.

I'm not poo pooing fusion as a possibility. But IMHO, it would be a serious mistake to count on it in to be an option in our lifetimes.
