Tolerating a massive wage increase in certain sectors of the economy that are low paid, is a choice. It is not right or wrong, it is just a policy choice. But the cost of goods and services in those sectors will shoot up. There will be economic disruption. Meanwhile, I think it will be evident rapidly in the construction industry, that a guest worker program is needed immediately, or we will go into a recession, and the standard of living in the US will drop overall. Without an immediate guest worker program, a lot of rural areas will revert to the state God intended. Neither will happen. It's ludicrous.

Will ALWAYS vote Republican. Just pray for more Conservatives to run. This Immigration Bill will have a tough time with the House.

Whether he's right or wrong from a technical position or not, he may shatter the GOP, and the price we will all pay if that happens will be very high.

Ramming something down people's throats that Mr. Average Non-Political American doesn't like is often a bad thing...As a rule, only the courts can get away with something like that.

Are you a forty-year-old man that still lives with his mom?

Nope. 54 year old, been married to the same woman for 28 years, two sons, both police officers.

Watch yourself, sp. Posters are turning on you.

You really don't have a life, do you? Are you a forty-year-old man that still lives with his mom?

Are you a 50 year old going on three? Your tantrums are really a sight to behold. Tell me, as a "streetpreacher" do you wear a sandwich board declaring the world is about to end?

I didn't run down Texas. Not comprehending logic or being able to read will not endear yourself to me. As far as "endearing myself to many conservatives"; I got over the whole peer pressure social acceptance thing early on but I can see that's still an issue for you. Oh well.

Good night. The Bush bots have scared me off. Declare victory. Slap each other on the back. I really don't give a damn at this point.

Tancredo? I'd vote for him in a minute. You can bet your life he'll never get the republicrat nomination, though.

Why would Tancredo never get the Republican nomination?

Time will prove that Bush is right on this.

Invoking a nebulous time only demonstrates how pathetically you cannot mount an argument now that proves Bush is "right".

What is on the table now is the Senate Bill.

Defend the particulars of the Senate Bill, for which Bush pushes. Defend the doubling of legal immigrants, the wanton issuing of Green Cards, the EITC payments, the amnesty for identity theft, the invitation for fraudulent documents.

If you cannot defend the Senate Bill, don't clutter the FR server with vague "Bush is right" tripe, as nothing could be more asinine and pointless.

Unfortunately it seems Bush is not going to back away from whatever pact he made with Mexico's Presidente Fox concerning his illegal citizens so at this point it no longer matters what else Bush has to say about it. Luckily he doesn't have the last say on this.

Our arguments and focus must now be on our House members to fight Bush on this. We must start and/or continue to call, not just email and pressure them on this until they understand our sentiments.

I have never felt the need to ever call my Congress persons about ANYTHING. So c'mon fellow freepers it's time to take the gloves off and fight Bush on this through our last available option.

What "position"? You dragged me on this thread, and all you've done is make a complete ass of yourself.

You have the audacity to rip us native Texans, and you live in the hillbilly heaven of Arkansas?

Do you realize how pathetically ridiculous you are being? No one can drag you onto a thread and make you call another poster names or threaten to get them banned by tattling. Calm down. Relax. Do not allow yourself to post without first taking a complete, full, long and deep breath.

I agree, but I think it is a good choice.

But the cost of goods and services in those sectors will shoot up. There will be economic disruption.

I don't buy it. Illegal immigrants are concentrated in unimportant industries, excepting construction that you point out below.

Meanwhile, I think it will be evident rapidly in the construction industry, that a guest worker program is needed immediately, or we will go into a recession, and the standard of living in the US will drop overall.

That's a pretty bold assertion. What evidence have you that the wage increase will be dramatic enough to cause a recession?

Without an immediate guest worker program, a lot of rural areas will revert to the state God intended.

What makes you think "guest workers" are going to start flooding into South Dakota? Very, very few illegals head there.

And frankly, I don't see what's the big deal about depopulating some parts of the heartland. Much of the Dakotas are already depopulated. And there's a reason for that: it's not a very desireable place to live.

[ W still doesn't get it! ]

'Of course he GETS IT.. What do you think... hes a moron?..
The denial that Bush DON'T get it is silly.. He knows exactly what hes doing... HE WANTS 20 plus million brand new democrats.. i.e. "I'm a Unite'er not a Divide'er", he says.. hes just uniting with the wrong folks.. ON PURPOSE....

Whats the punishment for cross uniform dressing in a WAR?..

I am sorry that you don't like how the legislative process works in this country. There are now 2 bills on the table. It will go to conference. It is now in the hands of that conference committee. That is how our system works.

Agree that the "forgery" must be reasonably genuine. The employer entity must retain the form and make it available for inspection by officers of the Service or the Department of Labor during a period beginning on the date of the hiring, recruiting, or referral of the individual and ending three years later. So it is not only the employer that makes the determination that the documentation is reasonable, but also, the USG.

The GOP is shattering itself as evidenced by these boards.
