"We have too many real enemies and we cannot afford "sitting" out, or "teach the GOP lessons" tactics."
But the GOP can afford to teach a lesson to so-called "border bots?" The outcome is the same, either way.
I also forgot the MOST important factor in Bush 41 losing the middle: the "recession" that ended in the spring/summer of 1992 that the media reported as the "worst economy in 50 years", right up until election day. I remember being surprised, when the data came out later in 1993, to find out we had all been duped.
I said that I knew his stance on immigration when I voted for him 3 times counting the primary the other day on a "protected" thread and have been defending my conservatism ever since.
Something I do when I see something odd on a post that doesn't quite look like it belongs is to click on the poster's screen name and do a little research. I hope others can send me the same consideration. Attacking each other and being all paranoid isn't going to get us anywhere.
Another thing we ought to remember is that George W. Bush is not running for re election. We need to drive the debate in the direction (i.e., the next President) we want the country to go. I think eliminating Chafee would be a great start. Let's use a little Jack Welsh management here, huh? There is always room for improvement.
Yeah, and in reality - the GOP compares the up and coming Hispanic vote against the part of the base that is never happy anyway.
The future of who runs this country will be the ones getting the hispanic vote whether we like it or not. It is not Bush's fault - it is the fault of our lousy government politicians that will not touch a controversial subject until it becomes a major crisis.
Extremely subjective sidebar posturing
Puke,
Are you a mod?
Many ways. Before citing the most recent example, let me reiterate that personal attacks on the President, his family, or members of his administration as well as on fellow Freepers is inexcusable under any circumstances. Of course, some egregious posts by whomever only deserve certain responses before the author is banned.
The most recent example of disrespect was another instance of the President treating us as children or idiots: In his latest immigration speech he responded to the real problem illegal aliens and their growing numbers, a very real and divisive problem affecting citizens of all parties and politics, by lecturing us on the virtues, the contributions and the historic importance to our present greatness of legal immigrants.
Our president is an intelligent man. Surely, if he did not write the words he certainly saw the banality and dishonesty in their use.
I won't even, at this point, mention the similar "vigilante" and "religion of peace" faux passes...
Your addition of the neocon and your delighted agreement with and encouragement of another poster and his/her post, is what got you my teeth in your nose.
And you almost, but not quite, as did the other poster more reverently, imply that President Bush is being dictated/blackmailed into doing and saying what he has done.
I couldn't agree with you more!
Well, a greatly increased influx of Hispanic immigrants would appear to favor Democrats, if the recent demonstrations, as well as current voting patterns are any indication of future voting behavior. It also seems clear to me that they're not going to remain cheap and docile for very long, either. They're going to unionize. I see nothing positive for conservatives in this, other than the presumed religiosity of the group, and the effect that would have on the abortion issue. Beyond that, it's all socialist, all the time.
And you sir, conveniently brush aside the historical reality, and the repeated explanation that Ireland contributed 10 times her own population to the United States over time.
Repeating the straw man statement after being corrected can only have one or two explanations.
And we still love you too. :-)
There was a time in my life when I did some business in the Republic Of Ireland, and was there several times per year. Their standard joke, upon meeting yet another American with some Irish ancestry, was to say that if every Irishman in America was to return to the old sod, the island would sink.
Ahhhhhhhh...back in the fold, I see. :-)
Hm......what is a neocon anyway. I'm so fired up over the Bush trashers and the fussin' on this thread I'm not thinking through what I posting to - (maybe).
And, I never doubt Pres. Bush as you could check my prior posts over the years to learn. But - the points in Haglr's post about the undercurrents in our society hit home as I too think things are just too weird lately.
I did not manipulate my posts back to you as I don't have time to be that creative. I was not even positive as to what you were calling me a tinfoiler other than the Halgr post.
So, you see - it is time for me to quit with the flying fingers and get back to my life.
Hopefully the quitters and Bush trashers have gotten my ire by now and I'm tired.
The idea of punishing the GOP is something I have read constantly on the border bot threads. It's a theme of vitriol that I have a hard time with. I have heard you echo it, but not state it explicitly, so pardon me if I was wrong.
I was hoping you would respond to my list in an earlier post of what I thought would be given up by supporting the border bot agenda to the exclusion of all else. I have responded to your thoughts, so I hope you will respond to mine, otherwise we're not having much of a discussion.
Um hmmm....well let me pen you down as one more person who believes that Mexico will soon double its current population and every last one of them will pack their bags and come up north.
