That's exactly what the Libertarians said a few years back in Washington state about Senator Gorton...we ended up with Senator Maria Cantwell-at-all and turning over the Senate. The funniest thing was, as soon as Gorton went down to defeat they were on here crowing about it.
"And I seriously question whether after 4 years or however many of Shrillery in power--whether we COULD have another fair election, or not."
No, we couldn't.
If the Democrats hold Congress and Hillary Clinton is President, it will be Sulla's Republic, no doubt about it.
Looking down the road, things get worse and worse.
So, the truth is that tax hawks will, in fact, destroy the Republic rather than let taxes be raised. Raise taxes, and they walk just like they did in 1992. It's just reality. Ergo, we can't raise taxes.
Truth is, pro-lifers will, in fact, destroy the Republic rather than support a pro-abortion President or Supreme Court nominee. Nominate someone they're not sure of, and they walk out. Ergo, we can't do that.
Truth is, Border Conservatives will, in fact, walk out and destroy the Republican majority...and thereby, eventually, the Republic, if the border isn't closed. Give amnesty and no fence, and they walk out. Ergo, we can't do that.
But that's what Bush proposed and the Senate is insisting on.
The shenanigans have to stop. The Senate and the President have to cave. If they don't, well, the Republican minority will adopt that stance next year. It'd be safer and better if we didn't have to go through that.
I'm not that confident myself because the President still has a lot of power he can leverage within his own caucus, even when he's betraying the GOP. It's a bit amazing to think that a parade of stupidly short-sighted Republicans are getting ready to import at least 20 million new Democrats and hand the Dems electoral dominance for a generation.
PING!!!
#1471 was in reply to #1441. I'll give dirtboy the benefit of the doubt. He may not have seen it.
ROFL! Yeah, I'd argue with that on the internet. LMFAO! I guess you got me.
"If GWB cannot get a majority of the Senate GOP to join him and the Democrats in endorsing his guest worker amnesty, then I'd say there's no chance this'll pass in the House unless the leadership abandons the unspoken 'majority of the majority' rule (that they don't bring measures for a vote unless a majority of Republicans are in support). If they do that, all hell will break loose.."
That is an interesting point. Especially since the one side contains Chafee, Specter, and the other hooligans. Kind of gives us our hit list, doesn't it.
You two can duke it out. :)
I think LM is having fun with you.
Yep. If you want to get someone to the polls, it's not going to be nagging, browbeating or calling someone "DU troll" that does it.
Those tactics don't work on conservatives, and it's frankly insulting if you think that they will.
Ditto here, my rep is Sensenbrenner. I'd take a rino over Kohl or feingold in a heartbeat. At least there's hope for change. With a dem, you're going to get exactly what it is, liberal feel good, to hell with the constitution politician.
In Breaking News at the moment. And it's a start.
And that has to come first. Not simultaneously. And it will take more than 6,000 part time NG troops in support roles to significantly improve security along a 2,000 mile border.
I'm actually in total agreement with you on this post; you just put the whole issue into a neat little nutshell.
LOL -- I tracked you, LM. "I can see clearly now." Isn't that a song lyric?
Hardly. I've seen anywhere from 1/4 to 1/3 at the most.
I hope it's not as bleak as you and I seem to fear.
But I wouldn't place bets in that direction.
I would vote for Guliani easily over Shrillery--or any other GOP.
Yes, I abhor infanticide and hate any pol to stand for it. But we have to be realistic.
Fantasy voting is suicidal.
The destructive forces at least come close--in the realms of power--to out numbering the Constitutional forces. Not a time to be stupid about voting or staying home.
