"My fellow Americans, you've all heard this past week about the NSA program to collect data about domestic and international phone calls. I want to assure you that this program is not being used to spy on American citizens. Tonight I can announce that we are using this program only to spy on illegal immigrants.

The deportations begin in five minutes.

Thank you and God Bless America, but most of all, God Bless AMERICANS. Good night."

I do not disagree with securing boarders. My point is I think Tony Snow is in touch with building a fence and stopping the influx of illegals and he will get the President's ear. He cannot make him come to the right decision but at least he is at the table.

The beginning of the Tony Snow era.

You're right. The actual beginning was the rapid response to the NSA database story, but I'm sure that Tony's hand is in this one, too.

I sure hope Tony Snow pulls the Prez aside before he delivers another slap in the face to his Base.

I'm his base, and I haven't been slapped in the face. Unless your definition of slap is lower taxes, conservatives on the courts, strong military, the right to bear arms, and offensive operations against terrorists. If that's it, then Dubya can slap me silly!

MY FELLOW AMERICANS:

It gives me great pleasure to announce that my amigo Vincente Fox has accepted my offer to help me guide a massive amnesty program through the Senate.

He assures me that he can do the job that American senators and I won't do, namely: He'll use the correct term "amnesty" to give American citizenship rights to 20 million illegal aliens and their extended families instead of the other terms the cowardly senators and I float to the American public. Vincente understands that we must reward lawbreakers who demand the rights our forefathers fought and died for. The American people will thank us for giving these illegal aliens opportunies to continue to break even more laws in our own country. Thank you and God bless Mexico!

Regards . . . Penny

kneejerkish: Saying anything that does not reflect the party line as defined by the Lemmings.

LOL! Repeat after me, "Pres. Bush is a god and I am in love with him, I also think he is sexy". Repeat as many times as necessary.

LOL!

Goodlord, this thread has barely had time for the ink to dry, and the doom-n-gloomers have swooped down like it's fresh roadkill. Lay down your duct tape and stop wrapping your monitor with plastic sheeting. Sometimes things really DO go all right.

I don't think there is much he could say about immigration at this point that anyone would believe, or trust.

I'm certain the 'post play analysis' of the speech will be 'translated' to something that doesn't resemble anything the President said.

Actually the defintion is

kneejerkish: language used by people who guide their lives by political emotion. Found to be used by those on the left and right of the politcal spectrum.

Voting 'rat would be a big mistake. Both parties have groups that are soft on the border--so that is a wash. The War on Terror, tax cuts, and judges are enough to keep me solidly in the Republican camp.

From the WHITE HOUSE website:

Comprehensive Immigration Reform: Securing Our Border

On April 24, 2006, President Bush Discussed His Vision For Comprehensive Immigration Reform. The President calls on Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform to secure our border, improve enforcement of our laws, meet the needs of our economy, and uphold our highest values. The President also discussed his proposal for a temporary worker program that rejects amnesty, allows foreign workers to fill jobs that Americans are not willing to do, and reduces illegal immigration, smuggling, and crime at the border.

The President's Proposal For Comprehensive Immigration Reform Includes Three Critical Elements - Securing The Border, Strengthening Enforcement Inside The Country, And Creating A Temporary Worker Program. These elements depend on and reinforce one another. Together, they will give America an immigration system that meets 21st century demands.

Securing Our Border

President Bush Is Taking Action To Increase The Manpower, Technology, And Infrastructure Needed To Secure The Nation's Border. Since President Bush took office, funding for border security has increased by 66 percent. The Border Patrol has been expanded to more than 12,000 agents, an increase of more than 2,700 agents, or nearly 30 percent. The President's FY07 budget funds another 1,500 new agents. Agents are being provided with cutting-edge technology like infrared cameras, advanced motion sensors, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Protective infrastructure, such as vehicle barriers and fencing in urban areas, is being installed. Manpower, technology, and infrastructure are being integrated in more coordinated ways than ever before.

Strengthening Enforcement Of Immigration Laws In America's Interior

The President Is Providing Resources To Strengthen Enforcement Of Immigration Laws. Since President Bush took office, funding for immigration enforcement has increased by 42 percent. These resources have helped agents bring to justice smugglers, terrorists, gang members, and human traffickers. For example, through Operation Community Shield, Federal agents have arrested nearly 2,300 gang members who were in America illegally, including violent criminals like the members of the "MS-13" gang.

Creating A New Temporary Worker Program That Would Not Provide Amnesty

A Temporary Worker Program Would Make The System More Rational, Orderly, And Secure By Providing A Legal Way To Match Willing Foreign Workers With Willing American Employers To Fill Jobs That Americans Are Not Willing To Do. Workers would be able to register for legal status on a temporary basis. If workers decided to apply for citizenship, they would have to get in line. This program would help meet the demands of our growing economy and allow honest workers to provide for their families while respecting the law.

But no one wants to hear. It's chic' to trash President Bush. We are doing the liberals work for them.
