A woman thinking she is going to out fight a man, round house kick not withstanding, is a fool. The way to even the odds is to master the use of tools and weapons that are appropriate to different levels of response. Add to that some smarts and awareness to help avoid a situation where you may have to use them and your chances are a lot better than a kick. if you are a woman, it's good to know how to fight if you have to however if you are in a situation where you have to resort to physical skills against a man bent on harming you, your in serious trouble no matter how tough you are. 99 times out of 100 you are going to lose and it could cost you your life.

well boxing is boxing, but you take a cop, armed with a nightstick or an ASP or a 20oz SAP, and tell said cop that there are no rules and if you use said weapons and use them wisely, then It would be a even fight.
Cops around here have a Rep that you dont trifle with them.
Everytime I have delt with City police, I have found them friendly and professional. But after talking with a few of them, I know that they are not afraid to go to the Sticks if the situation warrents.
I am more afraid of the affrimative action hire that Barely read and write.

"Awoman thinking she is going to out fight a man, round house kick not withstanding, is a fool."

You misunderstand. I am talking about female crime victims and the common criminal. Most of these guys aren't expecting a fight. THAT I base upon observation. I don't think women should be on the street as cops (except in undercover work).

I would be willing to bet that the avarage woman can get herself out of trouble by fighting a hell of a lot better than 99 times out of a hundred. Though women as cops and a woman under attack as a victim are apples and oranges in terms of argument.

but there is no reason to put a female guard in an environment where she must directly deal with hardened male criminals.

They know this before taking the job and the pay check. Right or wrong, it comes with the territory.

I never said that....why do so many folks here always counter argue with a claim never made in the first place? Are you a woman...I've forgotten....that is how often argue.

Rape in prison is a bit different than the way TV protrays it....and not as common....and more confined to certain elements and demographics.

Women are exponentially more vulnerable .....and it distracts other COs...sorta like women in combat zones....which a serious Prison is most defintely...some with similar casualty rates.

I don't think I would want to work behind a wall in a serious joint voluntarily....but...in small towns like Jesup GA or Bastrop TX or Yazoo City MS....the BOP pays good relatively
