I read an anecdote from an older media guy from Europe who was talking about how they used to get viewpoints from America in the 50's.
They'd talk to the leaders of society.. who included the major united labor leaders, the chamber of commerce leaders, the major religious group leaders.. and the governmental leaders.
Today they just get the opinion of the politicians.
Don't believe it for a nanosecond.
Remember the FNC Dynamics poll that also had Kery at OVER +5% win.
This is a push poll BLATENT.
The media is not reporting on immigration now that the backlash can't be denied.
"What people here dont understand is Bush as a core belief believes in open borders."
Do you understand that it doesn't matter what his 'core beliefs' are? Do you understand that he swore an oath to defend this nation and the Constitution>
Do you understand that if he wants to get rid of that southern border, he must get both countries, in the appropriately massive numbers, to agree to annexation as a new state? (Or kick their ass and take it over as a territory?)
Do you understand that to do anything less is a violation of his oath, a failure to do his duty, and is a betrayal to this country?
Go back and read up. He campaigned as a fiscal conservative. Read transcipts of his debates with Kerry.
He is a bigger spender than even Lyndon Johnson, and his tax cuts will probably sunset out.
All we have is the War , and minimal support at home. He sucks eggs, IMO.
we are in a numbers game.
You MUST consider the long term objective of eliminating the democrat party and then pushing the rinos out.
You can't win the war without more republicans. We need 60 R's in the senate. It is as absurd as the fools who vote third party thinking that somehow it is useful.
>>WASHINGTON - Angry conservatives are driving the approval ratings of President Bush and the GOP-led Congress to dismal new lows, according to an AP-Ipsos poll that underscores why Republicans fear an Election Day massacre.
Six months out, the intensity of opposition to Bush and Congress has risen sharply, along with the percentage of Americans who believe the nation is on the wrong track. <<
What odd timing for this story considering the President's numbers are up lately - why its almost as if there is a political slant to this fine example of journalisitic expertise... How very odd.
The problem is this, like in TX, the rats do not go away. They become republicans and vote rino. That is what is happening in Austin. So I will never support any rino. Period.
Of course the timing of the story is intentional.
The MSM spins just as much with SELECTION of stories as must as the spin of their biased writing.
This story is pure push to help democrats.
This is why PMSNBC is dead dead dead last.
And with whatever respect due someone who advocates 'bending, you don't get what you want by compromise and surrender.
Yes, there are some conservatives who can win in some districts. I believe I said that in the original post.
Reagan also granted illegals amnesty and said repeatedly that no one was going to get all they wanted and it was better to get some of your agenda than none.
I totally agree that the GOP marginalizes conservative candidates in districts where the polling shows that they might not win. Ron Paul and Dr Coburn are exceptions, IMO.
This is why we have primaries.
I hope Santorum wins. I recall that the conservatives tried to get rid of Specter and didn't.
Santorum may lose. If the GOP doesn't pick up a compensating seat and if we lose enough seats to throw the Senate back to the donks, we can all sit back and watch what happens as the committees and the agenda all go progressive.
Won't that be satisfying?
So what you are saying is that the conservatives have been right all along and that the GOP will continue it leftward tilt and merge with the Dems, right?
Who are these 'far right' people that you despise so much, besides Eternal Vigilance (and quite likely now, me)?
BTW, you should take any compliment that you get even if it is an insult and misconstrued by you as a compliment.
You sound like me, but you say it better.
Someone cried to me that I expected 'too much' from Santorum by expecting him to vote as a conservative. WTF??? He ran and won as a conservative. How hard is it to vote your principles? Maybe someone has pictures that he's not proud of. Maybe he never was a conservative and just played one on TV. Maybe he just wants to be liked. Who knows?
The local and state party does everything it can to discourage any competition. So that no long works.
When you settle for the lesser evil, you are not required to be happy. In fact, you are practically guaranteed not to be and that's why many of us won't settle the next time around.
Alan Keyes, a solid conservative did run. Unfortunately for everyone, he didn't get through the primary. Too many power hungry GOPers knew that he wouldn't play their game of expanding government power.
