Maybe the Navy Cross is just a prelude of what's to come. His acts personify the term heroism.

Hey isn't that the same medal that Kerry got for killing a teenager and putting all of his men at risk?

Sounds fair to me.

An extraordinary man/but an ordinary Marine. That's what it's all about.

The words do not exist to properly describe this Marine. The closest is GOD COUNTRY CORP. What a hell of man he is.

A reward richly deserved.

One of my uncles got the Navy Cross in WWII. I never knew until after I was grown and he was dead. I had to get the story from my dad.

Didn't you use to get the MOH for throwing yourself on a grenade to save other soldiers lives.

My god.. he took 7 bullets and a grenade blast and still got through it all, recovered, and was able to walk up to get his medal??

This man takes a lot of killing...

" But make no mistake he said, Kasal was the real thing. "

He IS the real thing.

Magnificent men, these US Marines!

America could never have become what she is without men like them, and like him.

This Marine must be awarded the medal of honor. What he did is nothing short of the most heroic. What he is, is nothing short of a hell of a Marine.

Kasal's father was ill with liver cancer and could not attend the ceremony so they set up a video conference to enable the father to watch his son receive the Navy Cross. Unfortunately he passed the day before the award ceremony.

Kasal said the most challenging aspect of the ordeal wasn't the 22 surgeries he endured or even fighting the opinions of doctors who suggested he should have his leg amputated.

Instead Kasal said the real pain was knowing the battle would go on without him.

"The most difficult part was being away from the Marines," he said. "My goal is to get deployable again."

Wow.
