BTW McCains office is offering $50.00 an hour to anyone who will come down to Yuma for a year and pick lettuce.

The issue of a guest worker program is completely separate from the issue of illegal aliens.
We have a guest worker program. It may need to be reformed but illegal aliens are those who have not applied to be guest workers. There are 11 million of them. (or more) The only thing needing reform now concerns illegal aliens and border security. We need to enforce the existing laws respecting the presence and employment of illegal aliens and border security.
Border security is the number one problem in this debate. The flood of illegal aliens is a major factor in relation to our lack of border security but it is only one factor. There is also a matter of national security in a time of war and in an age when terrorists have set their sights on inflicting mass destruction on our society.
After the issues of border security and millions of illegal foreign nationals on our soil the matter of guest workers is very small. Until the first two problems are thoroughly and firmly addressed the guest worker issue should not even be discussed.
The President the Senate and the House need to get that message with unambiguous resolve.
Border security! No employment for illegal aliens!
Immigration and a guest worker program are separate issues from the above.
Now is the time to put the pressure on!
<< Hopefully we can adjust from a flood of illegal, minimally productive, aliens to a flood of legal, talented, and very productive aliens who see the vision that is America, and buy into it in a big way. Americans need the latter very much, though it is hard (impossible, I think) to argue that we deserve them. Perhaps, by the grace of God, we will get them anyway. >>
We had and continue, somewhat undeservedly, to powerfully benefit from the now considerably dried up but earlier considerable flow, if not a flood, from South and South-East Asia, of 'very productive aliens who (saw) the vision that is America, and (bought) into it in a big way.' Before the same lobbyist thuggees who shill for the criminal alien invaders paid off their owned, operated and controlled politicians and Socialist Internationale-serving permanent feral bureaucrats to curtail the issuance of the needed visas. That their actions, in addition to depriving us of hundreds of thousands of woderful immigrants and their families, had the inevitable unintended consequence of giving an enormous boost to the outsourcing of American Capital and jobs to South and South East Asia was beyond the limited intelligence and anticipatory abilities of the failed lawyers who comprise our political and lobbyist ranks. But right in line with the evil intentions for this nation of the for the most part un-and-anti-America socialist permanent bureaucracy.
Bring back the mass immigration of the cream of the world's crop, by all means.
But to continue to allow the destruction of our national sovereignty, our borders, our language and our culture by the racketeers by stuffed ballot box and their effectively-organized-criminal lobbyist masters who incite, encourage, support and facilitate the continuance of the current criminal alien invasion, is to commit national suicide!
Most of the labor of those criminal alien invaders, by the way, goes, not to the mythical man who is "doing the work Americans will not do" -- or to Mexico's bankers. It goes to the likes of America's new welfare rich, the American "farmer." And to such of his his slaughter-house operators and processors and distributors as to Tyson Chickens, to the entire sugar, cotton, peanuts and dairy industries, to Archer Daniel Midland and to such mindbogglingly energy-and-cost-inefficient rackets as are the various ethanol-from-corn scams. Goes to the much-vaunted American "farmer" that is, who in his turn to prostitute himself at the robbery-by-ballot-box trough -- and at the cost of his immortal soul -- is paid off to produce, transport, store and to eventually dump the Himalayas of unwanted, un-needed and unsaleable produce with which the USDA and USAID and other unlawful, illegal, un-Constitutional and absolutely redundant agencies bankrupt our friends and our enemies' farmers. And in many cases absolutely destroy the agriculture-based economies of whole countries. As USAID achieved, for example, by dumping mountains of unsaleable produce on previously net agriculture-exporting Somalia.
You are driving that little guy crazy with your disappearing act!
The Taliban fellow at Yale is a distraction.
If some one wants to leave Europe, Asia or elsewhere and make the effort to come to the US and get a serious educationsuch as an advanced degree in the hard sciences, then we should be intersted in keeping him. Over half the PHD's in mathmatics awarded at American universities go to foreign born students. We should actively work to keep them here. I agree we should be actively encouraging more American students to study science and math.
"Over half the PHD's in mathmatics awarded at American universities go to foreign born students. We should actively work to keep them here."
I see two alternatives here as being appropiate. Let foreign people come to school here if they want to stay. Or don't let them come to school here. Perhaps our universities should take care of our own kids first. The argument against this of course is that people learn about America by attending school. The old "heart and minds" winning discussion. We've given many of our worst enemies a very fine education. Instead of them learning about us we are teaching them how to better attack us.
The communists/socialist won the hearts and minds of the universities which are now incapable of a non-liberal thought or idea.
