Memory B and T cells are difficult to destroy. You'd have to get TBI (total body irradiation) to a level seen in Hiroshima to get to that state. Or be given chemo that will destroy the entire mucosal tract before it would kill memory cells. To give you an example, patients given high dose chemo for BMT (bone marrow transplant) still have intact memory B and T cells (as determined by responses to tetanus toxin, for example).

Interesting, do you have any links?

Perhaps that explains the relief I get when I take a 'cold remedy' sold OTC at Sam's Club which contains acetaminophen(tylenol), Dextromethorphan, phenylephrine HCL and guaifenesin. The tylenol wears off within six hours but the efrects in relieving the arth in my kneee lasts for a couple of days. I think I'll try taking the guaifenesin alone on a QD basis and see what happens ... as a light smoker (six per day usually), the guai and phenyephrine improve lung/bronchial function but the arth in the knee is far more important.

Most smokers will swear by the effectiveness of cough medicines; it's not just a placebo effect -- under the most demanding and rigorous testing conditions -- by those who are the experts on this score.

The other effects beyond the respiratory system are something not noticed by most because the effects are less urgent and dramatic. However, when one has the flu, it's usually not limited to bronchial congestion but are accompanied by aches and pains throughout the body -- probably caused by that same thickening of the mucus.

That "cellulite" condition in some people looks suspiciously like that expelled thickened mucus from the lungs. Recently, I ran across an infomercial claiming to be the cure for the thickened hardening of the mucus in the colon causing an impaction that becomes toxic and even fatal in people. They claim the normal weight of a colon is 4.5 lbs and those with a problem, are autopsied and found to have a colon weighing 45 lbs! of impacted mucus.

What really convinced me of guaifenesen's effectiveness was that a football knee injury I had constantly for almost 40 years disappeared when I started the guaifenesen regimen -- for my more pressing crippling back pain. I thought I couldn't walk anymore. I no longer have my twice yearly crippling back pain.

One of the most notable effects of guaifenesen is as a muscle relaxant -- and I notice that my range of movement is greatly enhanced. When I used to run, my muscles would cramp on me -- which is contract, and not release. All those problems went away when I started taking guaifenesen as a regular nutraceutical.

That's the revolutionary aspect of this "cure" -- that there is one simple underlying reason for a lot of organ/cellular dysfunctions that in the past, or in current medical specialization thinking, is regarded to be unconnected to one another. In order to function properly, the basic viscosity of the fluid in the body has to be maintained at an optimal level or it doesn't function as a liquid -- but is a solid.

The same would be true with the other fluid of the body -- the blood. Most drugs with a favorable effect liquefy (thin) the vscosity of the blood -- so that it flows, rather than obstructs, with damaging consequences.

It is not experimental - Rituximab has been approved by the FDA for patients with RA who have failed DMARDS and TNF inhibitors.
