"If you take a minute to think of what good could come of letting them stay with a chance of becoming citizens, you might see a new workforce of first generation Americans..."

Part of me thinks people who can organize and turn out like these people have can contribute to our society. Another part of me is furious at the demands made by these invaders. As was said earlier, most Americans are not opposed to legal immigration by those wishing to become Americans. I am against the 'Mexicanization' of America promoted by the multiculturalists. I am also against people breaking our laws, flaunting it in our faces, demanding social services and sharing the same rights as citizens (re: taxpayers). The part about which I am most angry is our so-called leaders' ineptitude to deal with this problem in any way that reflects the will of the citizens. I also agree with you on the fair tax.

This also angers me to no end. There is no excuse for our leaders lack of concern for our borders or the merry-go-round immigration policy's they have practiced for so many years. The saddest thing is that we only have ourselves to blame for it. We never make this a priority of an election nor has it ever been one of the planks of a convention. Our turn outs for national elections is poor at best, but our turn outs for local elections is pathetic. We only have ourselves to blame, but most of what I'm reading here is blame for people that just wanted to live better lives. If they ever get the right to vote, what kind of turn out would you expect from them?

Just got off the phone with the offices for my Representative and both Senators. Specter's office (Pittsburgh) was taking a tally and sending it to DC - sounds like allot of Pennsylvanians are pissed.

So, it appears they (the politicians) are for one time sticking their fingers in the air (and getting their heads out of their DC butts) and at least giving this whole thing some thought!

Now is the time to be heard - drop a dime and call your Senators and Representative!

Speaking of Pennsylvania, I just heard a radio report here in Pittsburgh that the "pro-immigration" rally here Downtown today drew a whopping 100 people, and most of whom actually came out against illegal immigration.

I expect that on most other issues we think the same. For my own revelations, I'm going the other way on this one.

You are right, I thought it was more.

Protest for immigrant rights in Pittsburgh draws more than 100

You had me up until that part about 'just wanting to live a better life'. That is akin to the 'jobs Americans won't do' line and it won't fly with me. Say I live near a huge mansion. I think I'll just walk in and make myself at home because I just want a better life. When the owner finally complains after I have brought over my family and everyone else I know, I will protest, call him a racist, and demand my rights. And I will demand that this homeowner appease me in my own native toungue, as I have no desire to learn his. But you are correct in that we do have ourselves to blame for leaving the door open...

Here is a pretty good thread on this topic if you like Mark Steyn:

Boot them out, make them line up for green cards...if you have a job waiting, you get a card, get fingerprinted, get back in. If not, go to the back of the line. The problem with using a broom to sweep them all in, is that this motivates the next twenty million to head north asap. And the next, and the next. The entire hemisphere is headed this way, with the exception of Canada. Not only this hemisphere, anyone who can escape China...we have 68,000 Chinese illegals that China refuses to take back. The entire world wants to come here and we'd better start enforcing laws already on the books.

Watching the big one in DC here... they keep saying the slogan "Today we march... tomorrow we vote!" and saying things like "If they do not give us what we want, then we will vote them out and get people that will give us what we demand"

Really out there... how in the hell are these ILLEGALS supposed to vote anyway?

Nope. I'm talking about a much more elemental gut feeling about the parties.

You can bash the President all you want, but not one of you folks have told me how the Democrats would be any better.

You're falling right into their trap. No one said the democrats would be better - that is exactly what the Republicans are counting on - they only have to be a little better than the democrats to stay in power.

Sometimes you have to take one step back to take 10 forward. Ford losing to Carter in 1976 is a good example. Carter was worse than Ford, but that step backward was worth it as it cleared the way for Reagan.

You're falling right into their trap.

LOL! Yeah, *I'M* falling into *THEIR* trap--meanwhile your crowd is going to put the Democrats into power with the MSM cheerleading them every step of the way. Bush has a rating in the 30's with a great economy and the situation in Iraq improving--but one term of the Dems in power and Americans brought up in the ultra-liberal schools of the past 20 years are going to suddenly see the light and toss them out and put the Republicans back in in 2 years. Suuuuuuuuure they are!

So let me get this straight: You want the Dems to get back in power, so the Republicans will come BACK in power--at which point the Republicans will of course vote exactly the way we want. And the MSM will of course help us get the Dems out right on schedule, and they'll have done NO damage in the 2 years we will let them in for (and of COURSE they'll be voted out like clockeowrk--hey, worked with Carter, so of COURSE it will work in an entirely different time, with a hugely different electorate--God knows all those illegals voting here will of COURSE vote the Republicans back in once they get the Dems into power!).

And once again, not one of you has explained how putting the Dems back in will improve things. Yep, just put the Dems back in and then they'll be gone in 2- 4 years. Meanwhile, give the Republicans the finger--thanks for the two conservatives on the SCOTUS, cutting taxes, a war on terror.

I am as much against the immigration foolishness going on as anyone, but I'm not going to shoot myself in the head because I'm mad. I'm going to keep engaging the only party that has members that at least get it.

1976 - Ford losing to Carter cleared the way for Reagan. That's how it works.

Why should Democrat-Lite Republicans care what you think if you're going to vote for them no matter what. With your vote in the bag no matter what, all they worry about is attracting some of the Democratic vote by moving even further to the left.

You're being part of the problem by being an enabler.

We did this plan, under Reagan. Like I said to the original poster, it's a great plan, if you want 50 million here in 10 years. People are coming here and staying here ILLEGALLY, with NO SCREENING, from ALL OVER THE WORLD. Not just Mexico.

The 9/11 high jackers were ILLEGAL VISA OVERSTAYERS.

These rallies are sponsored by ANSWER, by COMMUNISTS. I doubt most of the people at them are even illegals, I imagine most of the illegals are at work today.

The current system cannot stand. If we have another amnesty, start learning Spanish and Arabic and prepare to kiss this country GOOD BYE.

"It would require a change in the state laws, so I don't think the judges would have much say about it. Of course they might, but it would be something to try, anyway. Something the states could do on their own, it wouldn't depend on the Feds. And as I say, it would go far to separate the hard working wheat from the criminal chaff.

As to your other post I entirely agree, but in fairness, only IF we did some kind of amnesty which was a "get out now to come back later" thing.

And as for increased penalties, how about the DP for "coyote" smugglers, that might make that "job" a lot less attractive."

I agree on all.

Thanks mj!

In all reality I got a little psycho on my last post. I venture that many of those here could/should/will be worked into our society. But it is stupid to do anything until we have control of ALL our borders. And stop the transformation of this country into an Hispanic nation, there are plenty of those to chose from for any who wish to live in one.

And it is ridiculous to think we'll do anything to appease the mobs that have appeared.

Believe me I'll be calling the WH and the RNC tomorrow. I think Karl Rove just lost his mojo, big time.

thanks for the reply, I am just furious, I can't deal with it so I went to Uptown, in the left radical intersection, and yelled,"I am for illegal immigration, I don't like laws either, I'm for a no law country, burn the Constitution, freedom without law is what I want, come on, letem all in!!" I lost it today, I am so furious!
