Damn straight ... weakness, that's the perception we're imaging. We were perceived as weak with the WTC '93, we were weak in Somalia (thanks, Bill), weak in refusing the offer of OBL (you sex maniac idiot, Bill), and weak and panicky, naive crybabies today in our lame congressional representatives. Term limits: a phrase whose time has come.

If the UAE is interested in long term economic growth (which I believe they are), this move is smart one. And yes, it is a PRO-Administration move, not only for public perception, but to shut down the potential of Bush using his veto pen against (some) of his own party.

Well said. Apparently all the "knee jerk" bushbots screaming about losing "our greatest ally in the mid-east!" haven't figured that out yet.....cash talks, infidels walk.

Yup. And there is also a famous golfer, I've forgotten his name, who has been contracted to build a golf course over there.

My man Ernie Els?

Ernie is a South African, btw.

I only vaguely know that name, bts, so if he's building a golf course over there, there is also another golfer whose name is much better known to me who is building yet another course. Wish I could remember!

Try this.... Greg Norman

http://www.cybergolf.com/state.asp?stateID=78&newsID=2397

New Golf Developer in Dubai Nakheel, a backer of some of Dubai's most prominent real estate projects, has launched a division focusing on golf development in the Emirate. Nakheel Golf, in alliance with Greg Norman, has begun work on developing six golf courses at selected Nakheel projects in Dubai. In related news, Nakheel’s chairman, Sultan Bin Sulayem, will be joining the Executive Board of the Environmental Institute of Golf – the international body that promotes environmentally-sound golf courses.

Thanks for a voice of reason in a storm of irrationality.

They are selling that portion to another investor, as a way of calming US concerns.

We have diplomats who work and work on this stuff, white house staff, DOD, Coast Guard, and the Dems and MSM and spineless Republicans turn it into "the bad american".

We need UNITY on these issues, and yet the DEMS........

They will risk your death, they dishonor your children (volunteers in the military), and would stand on their DEAD BODIES to proclaim their POWER and KINGDOM.

THEY WOULD STAND ON YOUR DEAD BODY TO BE ABLE TO REGAIN POWER.
THEY WOULD STAND ON YOUR DEAD BODY TO BE ABLE TO REGAIN POWER.
THEY WOULD STAND ON YOUR DEAD BODY TO BE ABLE TO REGAIN POWER.

No problemo! The BBQ weight is superior to the stuff that's on sale. Plus you can make cat ears or Viking horns much easier :-D

It's a much different world these days. Who could have possibly envisioned what's happened? I want to cover my ass, but as politely as possible...

I'm glad the poll-chasing RACIST bastard republicans in house and senate flying off the handle on this are so eager to make enemies out of every "towel head" on the planet.

Thanks guys... way to 'represent', I'm only in my mid 20s and I think I'm going to use my "cut off my nose to spite my face" navite card and intentionally not vote for any of these fools if available... even if that means a RAT in their place.

I refuse to reward the racebaiting emotial overraction as a 'viable' political tactic... thats what dems do... well dems and 80% of republicans it seem in the right circumstances.

Paththeic... up and down the line they make me want to PUKE.

Globalism is what is at the heart of the port issue. The world is flat vs. oval vs. round.
How does America tackle security issues such as port management without government's dirty little hands or foreign entities getting involved. We just went through this with Airport security and the Union perps won. Conservatives need to come up with an "oval world" strategy for our security, otherwise we will lose again and again.

The wicked witch knew that the American public are mostly oval minded in regard to global capitalism and she flew on her broomstick to the front with the issue.

I for one am not a flat worlder willing to sell my country out to the highest bidder in the world and I seriously doubt that the majority of Americans are and that is why we had the 62-2 vote.

No, thanks. I'm not interested in reading a website that promotes bigotry against religions. But hey, why don't you visit a Ku Klux Klan site and learn all about Chritianity?

Then that is further action on their part and beyond the scope of simply divesting themselves in the port deals. We could go further and project whether they will retaliate in even more ways, but their walking away from the port investments (in of and by itself) is what I referred to.

You think there was trust to begin with? C'mon.
There's been a lot more hysterical overreaction by the pro-port people than not.

You make a fundamental mistake when you equate port safety of Yemen with UAE. Cole was taking supplies portside because that's how the Clinton administration wanted it. That came from the Oval, not the Pentagon. It was an effort to have a presence in port, to be some kind of good will gesture...suicidally foolish.

The decision to use that port came from FLAG. Some of whom worked under Poppy Bush as well. Ironically though the reason for the Navy using that port was much like the one in the UAE. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/docs/man-sh-ddg51-001025zd.htm Granted the State Department IMO has no business getting involved with military issues such as this. They were trying to use the Navy as a Diplomatic tool and it failed just as it can at any second in the UAE.
