General Franks said that it's absurd to chastise the UAE for their pre-911 ties to the Taliban. For if it were not for that, the US's precision bombing and rapid, successful military campaign would not have been possible. For it was the UAE gov't who handed him (personally, he said) much of the intel that led to the Afghan campaign's stellar performance. It is important to note that the UAE denounced the WTC attack, and broke ties with the Taliban after 911.

When we repeat it enough, "the UAE are our friends" mantra, we can count on hundreds of thousands of mindnumb robots to begin to believe it true inspite of the mountains of evidence otherwise.

It's an age old tactic for the feeble minded.

To win the War on Terror, we essentially have three options, none of them easy:

1. Kill everyone in the Middle East, except for Israel.

2. Pick a border and hide behind it, a la “Fortress America”.

3. Destroy enemies, make friends, and establish democracy
