I don't buy that there were no bidders from the US. I contend that they didn't even know about the bidding. Besides, while they are saying that the US Coast Guard is going to handle everything, hurricane season starts on June 1st through September 1st. I guess hurricane victims will just have to wait for the Coast Guard who is taking on a larger mission because of Jimmy Carter hooking up this administration with his Dubai buddy.

You're too easy if all it takes is one military man's opinion to win you over. This is a lot bigger than him.

It's a gut feeling, not media reports that have me opposed to Dubai. I'm also alarmed that such a major billion dollar deal was done in secret but after a couple of days, suddenly, Bush didn't even know about it. It wasn't secret, it was reported by the business press back in Novemeber. All you have to do is a little research and I guess the President should also should know every business transaction and who is getting married every day, correct.

Actually, he's a lot bigger then the detractors driving this tempest in a teapot.

I know this isn't gramatically great but before the grammar police arrive,
"I don't buy that there were no bidders from the US."
Sorry for the bad grammar. Fv

"The former Iraq war commander explained U.S. reliance on the Dubai port facility by saying, "We know he difference between an enemy and a friend."
And you think he's infallible?

The business press is not the mainstream media or the internet media. It is special interest media. IMO, Jimmy Carter got a boatload of money on this deal. That should scare freepers who remember the Iran hostage crisis.

Didn't a football player get shot by friendly fire in Afghanistan? So much for knowing the difference between the enemy and a friend. Afghanistan was Franks' war.

With his direct knowledge of this particular issue, I'd say he's far more creditable then the people calling foul who have no such knowledge.

John Kerry's family GOT RICH from a port deal in Vietnam. Jimmy Carter is probably GOING TO BE FILTHY RICH from this port deal. Doesn't that bother anybody? Jimmy Carter - this is his sweet deal.

I wont blindly follow party politics when my gut tells me otherwise. Too many of you are grasping at a way to support Bush in this (and I voted for him twice; so what- I dissent from his opinion on this fiasco.)

I agree with you, no matter how the president's media spins it. Fox News is the president's media.

I thought it was our government.
"The more people learn about the transaction that has been scrutinized and approved by MY government," Bush said, "the more they'll be comforted that our ports will be secure."
