What you say is true, but Joe and Mary Jane Sixpack are not going to buy it. I'm already getting emails form moderates who are complaining about what a hypocrite George Bush is, and I really don't have a defense to offer.

PLease. If we want allies we got to treat them as allies There are plenty of ways to treat them as allies without giving them our ports.
Have the good Sheikh to dinner at the Whitehouse, take him hunting with Dick Cheney . . . um scratch that last one, buy him a vacation home in Maui and give him some Patriot missiles. That would certainly make them feel warm and fuzzy. They don't NEED our ports!
We never even let our long established friend, England run the ports, it was a private company. The company in question is owned by the UAE.
