No matter what you think of the Dubai port deal, the following GOP candidates have to oppose it:
1. Robert Ehrlich
2. Michael Steele
3. Tom Kean, Jr.
4. Lynn Swann
5. Katherine Harris
6. David Vitter
In the 2006 election, Maryland, New Jersey, Florida, Louisiana and Pennsylvania Republicans are not going to be able to get around how bad this looks. Doesn't matter that the UAE company isn't going to be doing anything much beyond operating cranes. Voters aren't going to like it. And the RATS are going to make a big deal out of it.
Any candidate who wants to say "I disagree with the administration on this decision" must be allowed to do so without getting criticized by other Republicans for it.
