A pittance but a step in the right direction. Glad to see he is rediscovering his fiscal conservative roots.

Cool. Let's get it started. Maybe the REPUBLICAN CONGRESS which controls the purse strings, can double or triple that cut in spending. :)

Eliminating 141 obsolete, unneeded, wasteful programs is really a good start. Who do you think started these programs in the first place? No Democrat will ever remove a program they sponsored or billed, just not in their character.

Can you imagine the media frenzy if it worked out to 240 (or more) programs ended?

Also, the cost to run these programs is about 60% of their budgeted money anyway.

Remember that every "program" that is cut means more money in the pockets of taxpayers.

A careful study by economists, not working for the government, has estimated that the American people are overtaxed by over 70 percent.

Notice that no administration ever proposes cutting perks, plunder, or waste.

$14.5B out of $2.7T is one half of one percent(.005)that will really shrink the size of government.

...the first tangible result from a vow the president made in his State of the Union address last week to constrain the massive entitlement programs for the elderly and poor.

Sorry, but the guy who pushed the largest entitlement increase via prescription drugs does not get to say that without getting his pee-pee smacked.

This AP story was in the paper yesterday. Is there any real "cut", or just a decrease in the growth of spending? I wish there was some way to make these damn reporters tell the truth.

As I recall, what is called "cuts" by the politicians and the MSM are usually reductions in the rate of growth.

Its not enough. Nice try though at trying to slay Washington's Entitlement Monster. This is just at a prick at the beast's hide.
