"no amnesty" sound a lot like "no new taxes". I think it's genetic or something.
Bottom line Bush - will do nothing substantial about the border and the 'Crats will take the Senate this fall.
You reap what you sow. Sad, really sad.
Now wait a second, it was the Clinton administration that was advocating that they put "water stations" in the deserts on the border so the illegals don't die from dehydration
It's your hero tancredo blowing hot air.
He could work with good conservatives Kyl/Cornyn and actually work for a solution, but he doesn't, he'd rather do a jesse jackson like grandstand.
If Bay Buchanan supports securing our borders then great, glad to have her on the team.
You are correct, Dane. A guest worker program obviously does not include the illegals currently in this country (Guests are invited, these folks entered illegally). President Bush must be talking about those who have not entered this country illegally. Would you agree to that?
We have between 12-20 million illegals in this country.
Giving them the "right" to work here after they have broken our immigration law IS an amnesty. ""
I believe that is about half right.
I think the number of illegals is much closer to 40 million.
They are coming across the border much faster than we are catching them and sending them back.
Ask the ranchers (and keep them anonymous) that deal with the problem EVERY day and night, and get some real information.
Uh when has GW Bush raised taxes, he hasn't, but nice try at obfuscation.
Dane, I'll take a man who grandstands for the truth over a bunch of Bush worshipping bureaucrats
The majority of the people that do not support Bush have absolutely no realistic way of dealing with the problem...It is much easier to bitch and moan about it than face the problem..
And for the people that live in San Antonio, New Mexico, Los Angeles, etc...to be horrified at Mexican/Spanish culture pressure is as ridiculous as it gets.
The 911 hijackers did not come in from Mexico. They came here mainly 100% legally.
People also should stop conflating this issue with terrorism as well.
you and reality are like oil and water.
Well, cheap labor for some jobs is a
necessity. My friends operate a
horse boarding farm in southern Wisconsin.
Years ago, high school kids were willing
to earn $5/hr to muck the stalls and sweep
the aisles in the horse barn. Now no one
wants to do that kind of work. So, when
the Mexicans showed up 8 years ago with
their Green Cards, they were hired. They
do a really good job and they are paid
decent wages.., a lot more than the kids
earn at Mickey D's!
bay buchanan is a DC beltway grifter, IMO. Just look how she and her brother got their hands on the 12 million from the old Reform party.
Read between the lines - like father like son - get it, got it, good.
Agreed, confiscate there businesses and put them in jail. Fees are not enough of a deterent.
maybe, maybe not
but the inevitable civil war that would start down there might be alot bigger problem than has been thought out
which side would the drug lords take?
is there any doubt that al qaeda would be encouraged just because of their agendas?
how soon would their civilwar come across the border?
Tonight, I also ask you to reform our immigration laws so they reflect our values and benefit our economy. I propose a new temporary worker program to match willing foreign workers with willing employers when no Americans can be found to fill the job. This reform will be good for our economy because employers will find needed workers in an honest and orderly system. A temporary worker program will help protect our homeland, allowing Border Patrol and law enforcement to focus on true threats to our national security.
I oppose amnesty, because it would encourage further illegal immigration, and unfairly reward those who break our laws. My temporary worker program will preserve the citizenship path for those who respect the law, while bringing millions of hardworking men and women out from the shadows of American life. (Applause.)
