And Lucy is going to pull the football away from Charlie Brown once again but those idiots just don't realize it. Heck, they won't realize it even after it happens.
It's so transparent.
I have the same feeling. Much easier to handle the hits to a few DEM Senators, than for DEM leadership to have to try to explain "why no filibuster" if/when the final vote is less than 60.
Danged if I know. Apparently Alito already has enough votes. :)
Every speech sKerry makes is a filibuster.
Droning on and on about nothing, never getting to the point.
Yet it does have a tendency to put the small children in the audience to sleep so they don't disturb the campaign.
Shoot, since when?! The loony fart has lost any marbles he had left in his byrd brain! Don't let him fool you, once a KKK member, always a boy in the hood!!
The old fashion way. Talk, talk, talk,.......
He's old enough to remember the days when a Democrat could still be an American.
Using the filibuster to delay debate or block legislation has a long history. The term filibuster, from a Dutch word meaning "pirate," became popular in the United States during the 1850s when it was applied to efforts to hold the Senate floor in order to prevent action on a bill.
In the early years of Congress, representatives as well as senators could filibuster. As the House of Representatives grew in numbers, however, revisions to the House rules limited debate. In the smaller Senate, unlimited debate continued on the grounds that any senator should have the right to speak as long as necessary on any issue.
Kerry is saying he would filibuster, because that was the plan.
Now that the public has sent in tons of mail telling the Dems how stupid they are, he will not say anymore about it, and over the weekend, everyone will forget he even said anything.
As the next few weeks play out, there will so much exciting new information confirming the actions of the current administration, and making all the DEMS look like idiots that no one will even think about Kerry.
Is anyone else listening to Reid squirm his way out of setting a vote on Alito? What a POS !!!
They are frantically calling congresscritters. I pity the secretaries in the office. :)
Byrd and McCain.
I back your stance.
Byrd may have a colorful background, but he is steadfast.
What qualifications he has, or detractions like the KKK, he doesn't hide. I have no problem with someone that has a different political stance as long as they are honest about it.
McCain is a lunatic. There is not much else to say.
I listened to him once on TV. I had to pee. ;)
And that is the way it should be. Elections have consequences.
Leiberman couldn't wait to drop his moderate views when Gore picked him for VP. He reverted again after their election loss dust settled. He is just another opportunist
demorat.
All of this praise for Byrd is so laughable. He is doing what's best for Robert Byrd, not for the American people. It just happens in this case that supporting Alito accomplishes both. Wait until after he is re-elected and then tell me how great he is. This is simply a man who doesn't want to loose power. The wonderful people of WV deserve better!
With Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-Louisiana saying she won't support a filibuster we are only one vote confirmed from making it a moot point (if the RINOs vote the way they should). But all the DUmmies will remember is that "Kerry was for a filibuster" even if a filibuster never really happens.
