Hey, please clue us in on what you all are doing in WA or put up a link for us to check it out so we can cheer you on.
Thanks for the info.
I received a very nice letter from our contact in Ramadi on Saturday. A lot of it was personal information as to his history etc. and he also wrote about the heat and their living conditions there. He sends his thanks once again for our continued support.
Wow!
That's 85 lbs of stuff you sent to Bagram!!
I'm especially impressed with the RWB leis and the hair clippers. Great items!
kattracks sent a box to Bagram with a lot of personal care items on the 8th, post 883, I think.
You two are doing wonders for our troops there!
I actually hadn't added up the total weight - no WONDER I couldn't lift the first box (it did HOLD everything, though). I have several trashbags full of packing peanuts left over from buying salad plates on ebay so I use those to fill in the crevices.
kattracks - It's a perfect fit that you sent all those toiletries! My Walmart is remodeling section by section & the night I was there to shop for the base was the night they shut down the toiletries section. I just barely managed to grab the hairclippers before they threw me out & roped it off.
8 - cans Pringles
8 - 5 pk. slim jims
5 - beef stick/pretzel/cheese
3 - vac pak Tuna
4 - paks wet wipes
2 - 3 pk kleenex
2 - hand sanitizer
3 - non alcohol oral rinse
4 - ice breaker mints
2 - pks RWB napkins 1 - tube toothpaste
1 - bag tootsie roll pops
That's all I have time for now. I will post contents of the 3 boxes shipped to Camp Ramadi when I reach my destination in a couple days.
Great going!!
Mailing from the East Coast your box will hopefully get in under the wire.
I'm so grateful you made the effort to get some more goodies to these soldiers for the 4th of July.
Cheers!
Patty
Looks like CSI, seasons 1 and 2, and 3 DVD movies I mailed to Camp Ramadi with cookies are going to be floating around out there for quite some time. I had a dyslexic moment and reversed the last two numbers on the APO.
*sob*
Maybe a conscientious postal worker will forward them to the right place. One of my packages with a wrong zip code did go through, which means it can be done.
Here's hoping some nice postal worker figures it out and corrects my mistake.
It had "Camp Ramadi" on it, and the soldiers name and unit. The last two numbers were reversed so it is obvious what the mistake was, but they may be just throwing them through based on numbers and if it shows up then at wherever that altered zip code is, then what can they do but send it back?
Well, I'm not that keen to have them see CSI and Windtalkers right off the bat even though they were requested. A TV series about stiffs, and a movie with bloody war scenes is not my idea of recreation if you're in a nasty war. I'd like the fun stuff to get there first and then the more heavy duty things come later to balance the library.
PRAYER PING!
The expected action is nigh.
Our contact will be in the thick of it.
Please pray for Chris and for all those going into action.
Thanks Patricia. It is somber to understand that those to whom we sent packages are now in the eye of the storm. My prayers to Jesus, keep them safe, bring them all back.
In an email I just received from Camp Ramadi was this
"The 4th of July boxes I have left for the people to string up and celebrate. We have about 3 big boxes for the people to do stuff with-------awesome."
I assume the box or boxes you sent were among these boxes of decorations. Could you post the contents you sent to the 1AD at Tal Afar that moved to Ramadi, and your box(es) were probably forwarded if you sent using the old APO.
Amen.
Oh, I'm praying Patty, but thanks for the reminder.
Prayer is more powerful when 2 or more join their hearts in prayer. Right?
Thanks for the post so we all could share the power of our prayers.
:-D
Thanks patriciaruth. I pray for our men and women in uniform every night, but I'll pray extra hard for them right now.
Thank you for the prayer ping.
In my heart I pray for all of our troops all day long, asking God to give them strength and courage to face all perils.
I have a quick question. Did someone on this thread post the address for Operation First Response? I sent them a donation, got a thank you, and threw away the envelope --- which was the only place there was an address. Thanks to anyone who can supply me with that address again.
Prayers for Chris and all of our military.
God Bless and Protect our troops.
I have the address for Operation First Response.
Could you hold your contribution to them till we get arrangements made for a memorial plaque at Bagram for a couple of the POC soldiers that lost their lives in service to our country, one by IED there in Afghanistan, the other in a training accident just before deployment?
The memorial plaque has been requested by the current psyops group there and Operation First Response is going to work with us on it because they have tax deductible status and deeper pockets than we do.
