Good Idea. Let's also have some victory parades for the troops in Iraq. Drop leaflets into Iran letting the people know about this, along with enough handguns and ammunition for every adult Iranian. If they don't take the hint, we will have to follow through. Go over the heads of the leaders and make the Iranians responsible for their own fate - and give them a short deadline.

It's time we quit being constrained by diplomacy as defined by Our Oldest Enemy (presumably one of the Security council vetoes Steyn is predicting).

Odds are that Abbadabbajab will have nuclear weapons before next Christmas (sorry, the next winter solstice) and then our European allies will send him "Season's Greetings."

Somebody reads FR. And writes better than we do. For instance -

"wow, if this is the respect we get before the nukes are fully operational, imagine how they'll be treating us this time next year."

Best line in the piece.

I'm beginning to think one qualification for office should be that the electee/appointee be an accomplished poker player.

Lets show them how a Neutron Bomb works. Which of their cities should we start with?

See post #6. Carter killed all research and development on the neutron bomb. They'd certainly come in damn handy near the oil fields of Iran and Saudi Arabia.

You can't deter a suicidal religious fanatic who believes eternal paradise awaits him after you kill him

The only option is to welcome him to his paradise.....now!

That would certainly be the most effective, but it is the least likely.

If Israel threatened to use its nukes (which they haven't even acknowledged that they have), all of Europe and the Middle East would begom themselves.

Iran would instantly become heroic in their eyes. (That is because Europe is a bunch of idiots also.) Your suggestion will have to be reserved for last resort.

There is so much we could be doing to screw up the mullahs, but the idiocy of the liberals would screw it up.

After years of Iran-Contra, working to take down another government (even if it needs and deserves it) has become nearly impossible.

Both your suggestions are great. Thoughtomator even has the area to start it in! (Post 32)

President Ahmaggedonouttahere

For obvious reasons I refer to him simply as "President A" or "The Unpronoucable One."

Steyn's spelling is a play on words: "Armageddon" and "I'm-a-getting-outta-here". The Iranian guy's name is Ahmadinejad.

Every challenge to the West begins as a contest of wills

Steyn slipped that in without fanfare but it is dead on.

Mix some chitlins and lard in with the ordinance. That should do it.
