Qom. One of their many, many, many holy sites, and Khomeni's home town and burial place.
Thanks for the ping.
I'm with you there. I think a neutron device would be an outstanding demonstration of what a true nuclear threat is all about.
You hit the mullahs, apologize for the collateral and underline the fact that a few had to die to save the millions these idiots were PROMISING to slaughter, and that we are only ensuring that the history of the middle 20th century are not repeated.
If we do Iraq right - pull off a democratic country - not just hand it over to a new group of power bullies, it'll push Iran over the edge. Student revolutions will work and the Mullahs will be out. On the other hand, if Iraq goes the civil war route - with various strong men running factions, it'll hand the region to the Mullahs on a platter.
According to some reports, the Iranians had Osama the last years of his life - wonder if he gave them any weapons? Something in the Iranian stance has changed - they're taunting Israel - trying to get them to fight. It sounds to me like they've already acquired WMDs. Then there was the talk about wanting to destroy Israel... That puts the world on notice. What would happen if Israel attacked Iran, and Iran countered with nukes? Oil in pipelines under Iran's boundaries stop and gasoline goes to $100 a gallon... Our job? Plan out our responses ahead of time. Now. Get the other nations of the world with us. Now. Something's going down. We need to be on top of it.

Good article, thanks.
But, madmen with a plan.
Announce that since we have so abused them by treating them by our standards, we have decided to handle this disagreement by their standards.
As Iran has announced that when they get nuclear weapons they will wipe their enemies off the map and nobody can stop them, we are announcing that we launched a full scale nuclear strike on Iran two minutes ago, and unless Iran developes an anti-balistic missile system in the next 13 minutes, they will be wiped from the map and nobody can stop it.
From this point forth, for the sake of clear communications and to avoid all cultural misunderstandings we will treat all nations as they treat others.
As for the Mad Mullah of Iran, the good news is that he was the last Maudi, as the end of the world for Iran has arrived.
. 20-smthg Iranian isn't like 20-smthg Californian (or Canadian, or...). He doesn't ask questions and has no either means or tradition to resist the authority. Loonies or no loonies, when drafted, he'll put on the uniform and will fight, even if halfheartedly.
Cannot agree on this neither with Steyn (for the first time!), nor with you.
Russia was busy to supress its dissidents through all of her history, as it is currently - and did it stop her from also putting in every possible effort to obtain this or that kind of weapon? Same examples are abundant in the history of every dictatorship. Why Iran would be different?
