Wow. Imagine that. I have to send ANOTHER letter to one of my Senators because he decided to vote against becoming a little bit more energy independent.
I do not want to hear another word from any of these Senators who decided to vote against ANWR and then next week will go and talk about how we need to find new sources of energy.

If DeWine and Chafee had voted for cloture along with Frist, they would still be one vote shy.

Did I just hear Frist vote no? SOP, when a vote is lost, voting this way allows the right to move for re-consider which is really just gives you the right to take the floor and vent.
To: netmilsmom
Motion to reconsider. Option to re-do the cloture vote at any time, including this afternoon if they agree to, or next year if they want to wait.
Gives better timing flexibility. The alternative is to submit a new cloture motion, and that has the one day waiting period.

Okay...in Reid's final argument before the vote...he read a quote from Stevens in a newspaper last week that stated that if they couldn't get cloture with ANWR on the bill, he would take it out...so the bill would pass.
First of all....he should tell them he "reconsidered"...but, second of all...how could he do that, if the conference report from the HOUSE has it?
Wouldn't the HOUSE have to agree?

I think when Frist votes no that it means he can resubmit the motion....not sure, but I read that when he voted no another time. Anyone know for sure?

Normal procedure when the Dems block cloture vote I've only seen it three times. Bolton, Patriot Act, and this DoD appropriations bill w/ANWR attached.
With judicial nominations, Frist voted AYE, and the Senate filed new cloture motions on the same subject.
