I think the nuclear option is only available for Judicial appointments. Filibustering on bills is considered fair game.

You're correct. Frist made the point that the nuclear optionwas ONLY for the executive calendar ( appointments) and further pledged to use it only for SCOTUS and Circuit Court nominees..

What else is attached to this? I think there is the money for the bird flu, what states have the majority of the vaccine makers (I'd be willing to bet it's a dem state)

The choice is vote for cloture or no Christmas recess?
Works for me. Make them actually filibuster. No Christmas break for the naughty Dems. They have all ready been whining about having to actually work in Dec. Usually they all are home for the whole month. Want to be Scum Democrats? Fine, stay here. Call the Senate into Session on SUNDAY DEC 25th so NO one in the country can miss the fact the Democrats are blocking everything NOT out of principal, but out of petty, childish, spite.

True, but he can call the senate back into session and keep them there over the Christmas break. He'd better do that very thing too. There is no way defense should go without money so these sleeze bags can go have a happy holiday while the troops are risking their lives for them.
