Heros can be fools as well as heros. Cunningham is a fool, a corrupt fool. He has disgraced himself and Congress. I wonder how many others in Congress can and should be exposed for their corruption?
There have been allegations that Murtha has been on the take for years. The House Ethics Committee is reportedly closing in on him. One possible explanation for his flip on Iraq is that it would tend to immunize him against corruption charges (if they indeed happen).
I believe he had previously announced he was retireing..i.e. not running again...that was before this plea...whent he news of the sweetheart house deal from a defense contractor became public...I don't know if he is now required to resign..but special elections to fill House vacanies are usually held within 2 months..Given the holiday season, if he resigns, to avoid being tossed out..I'd look for an early March special election.
He's not left Congress, yet, so we don't know when. This should be Howard Kaloogian's to win, although it will be a wide field. It is very unfortunate for Mr. Cunningham to end his career on this sad note. For those 'Rats who will utilize Cunningham's conviction to score political points, one only merely look at the vast bulk of their party for seeing truly criminal conduct. As bad as Cunningham was in poor personal judgment, he didn't commit treason or sedition and actively cheer America's enemies.
Bwahahahahahaha. Good one, Murrymom. Good one.
Murtha didn't really flip, but his press conference and the proposing of his pullout resolution was timed to get out in front of the accusation.
I'm sure if you can believe that, you can believe Cindy Sheehan actually gives a hoot in hell about her deceased son.
She certainly doesn't care for the one who's still living.
Does Your Congressperson Have a Criminal Record?
MM, methinks you need to refresh your recollection...
I still don't understand why JimRob allows the trash to post around here. The cuteness and preciousness factor has long since worn off.
Duke: I feel the need for greed!
I am disappointed. But it still doesn't take away what he did in Vietnam. The first fighter Ace and a decorated Navy Pilot. Navy Cross, two Siver Stars, Purple Heart among many awards. Also a Top Gun instructor.
Murtha did vote in favor of the congressional resolution authorizing force in Iraq, did he not?
She hits and runs. She's something of a mascot and she allows us to bash her everytime she posts. She doesn't break the rules as far as cursing or violence, so I say let the pile-on begin.
Yes Murtha did. Caught in a box he was.
He then becomes a victim. Which in the liberal world makes him a hero.
Duke served his country during a time of peril, thats more than some of those cowards that diss him now.Keep your head up Duke.
I thought that he did -- that's why I say "Murtha flipped".
