if these stories are true, GWB tips shamefully--when he tips at all...
I don't mean to sound uncaring because I do care but I'm not responsible for what their employer pays them and that the government has exempted them. Servers are not my employees. Maybe, owners should increase the price of the food and give an at least minimum wage. If fast food is required to pay minimal wage then restaurants should too. Tips should be well deserved and extra.
Whats to keep a Dem from making something up to make Bush look bad, or visa versa? Not much imo.
"(Note to self, make sure all offspring work at least one service job.)"
Parents made me either work and/or go to school.
Started as a dish washer for $2.00 an hour 15 years ago. Then moved on to bus-boy/waiter in the Poconos.... Now, I make well over $60.00 an hour and I dont have to work overtime I dont want to... When I started, I didn't believe in hard work because I saw too many privledge people get ahead by cheating.... Now, I can back up my words with deeds, they can not... Hard work wins in the long run. (Now, taxes, that is something else.) BTW, I tip 15% as a base, 20-40% if good service. 10% if bad.
Why is it a bit low? 10% has pretty much been the norm, and food prices have gone up substantially. Again, that's for average or, in most cases, below average service.
If you don't want to be told, "I'm sorry Mr. _____ we are booked this weekend. Next weekend? We have a waiting list...."
If you've never worked in high-end dining you'd never realize how many customers are blackballed from a reservation. Especially those (rude) that think they are more important than everyone else, never get back in.
And BTW, how much after the all the layers get tipped out like the bartenders, busboys, hostesses, food runners, maitre' d, sommelier, the fed taxes, the state taxes, city taxes, and so forth what percent do you think is left?
Bumpity bump to the top...
AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!
true... that is why i said "if these stories are true." i do find it hard to believe... but the thing is, i don't fine it hard to believe the stories about liberals!
450-750 dollars. Blackball me, please! I'll go shopping at Walmarts and cook yall all a good meal and have enough money left over to tip for a year:')
Why should you have to pay a 20% tip on bills like $450, $770 and so on?
Because your server is not getting any of the money from the $450 tab. My husband and I are not rich by any means, but when we dine out we always give the servers fair compensation for a job well done. If you can't afford to tip you shouldn't be dining out.
Well,if he didn't spit on the tray,I'd consider that an uptick.
I was lucky in that I mostly had my meals paid for by my company credit cards, I always added 15% as a tip.
After the 15% was added and if it was great service, I would give the server $5 to $20 in cash.
First time I've seen this. It is actually pretty good and I'll probably use it, or a slight variation.

I once tipped 50$ US for a glass of orange juice. But that was a very special circumstance.
