This poll is upside down.
But so are the naysayers and the Democrats and the MSM.

Good point. Some 40% of the country simply doesn't like Bush, Democrats mostly. Its easy to pick off another 11 percent from unsatisfied conservatives and "MSM schooled" average joes.

Bush got bogged down with Miers and Fitzgerald and the Democrats went on an all-out assault. What the hell do you expect.

"Thank you MSM. Not."All these polls actually measure is how effective the MSM drumbeat of propaganda is with those they poll.

I wonder what percentage of those who disapprove think that Bush is handling the Iraqi insurgency too gently.

Some audience. I'd say of these 51% most likely none have never held a weapon.
I'd like to see the same question asked of people remotely qualified to make the evaluation. Perhaps poll 1,000 West Point graduates versus 1,000 retired State Department officers.

66% said Lincoln was doing a poor job during The Civil War.

That's right let's fight a war by poll numbers.
Hey, while we're at it let's ask Iran, Syria and Turkey what parts of Iraq they want and we can get out and all have peace. I'm sure the muslims will just start loving Christians and Jews if we just surrender.

I always wish, when they asked a poll like this, for them to also ask the people to justify their answer. Bet most of them couldn't tell you ANYTHING of substance.

I wonder what percentage of those who disapprove think that Bush is handling the Iraqi insurgency too gently. I'll bet it's a pretty high percentage; I know I'm one of those people.
I hate police actions and operations designed to "win hearts and minds". They suck, and are destined to lose in the end.

One more golden instance of my oft-repeated observation:
polls are only valuable if weighted. And they never are.
That is, I want to know WHAT PERCENTAGE of the fifty-one percent has any idea what is going on in Iraq, has any historical perspective, is only getting what the Dems and the MSM (-- as if they're two different things) keep chanting.... I want a grasp-of-the-fundamental-facts check.
It grows out of this misconception, that opinions are self-validating.

Only 33% of the country was in favor of the Revolutionary War, too.
1/3 hardcore turned out to be enough to send the redcoats packing. Now we must deal with the turncoats.
