Most of the notes I have read on the Grange talk about holding it for fifteen to twenty years but maybe that is a bit too long. I don't know for sure.
I had an 82 Grange in 2000 so that would fall into that time slot but I was disappointed. I originally bought it on the strength of a glass I had at a wine show years ago which would have been much sooner. That is just one story though and not much to go on. I don't recall the exact price I paid but it was well below $100 back when I bought it.
The 96 was in the one hundred dollar range. Maybe I should drink it soon. It gets to the point where you almost become afraid of the wine trying to decide when is the best time to drink.
I think going by my experience drinking now or in the next few years would be fine.
