I haven't been to see a movie in a theater since 2001, but I MIGHT go to see "Ring of Fire"...anyone see it yesterday?
Please tell me they didn't butcher Johnny too badly...

"too esoteric"?
The only thing neccessary for a successful film is a tale and the ability to tell it. It can be highbrow or lowbrow or in between and it won't matter.
H'wood thinks that film making is a craft--and it is. But STORYTELLING is an art.

This is why I cn't wait to see "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." I may see the Zorro movie too. I don't need a political lecture from a bunch of hypocritical moonbats.

Hey, Hollywierd. Wanna make some money? If you want to know what'll sell in the red bits, give me a call. I'll go through your slush piles for you. You've probably tossed a lotta gems just because you wouldn't know what you were looking for if it bit ya.

All these movies are going to take Hollywood messages to the November 2006 elections.

I think that they think that they can sway we great unwashed.

I've made the same offer in previous threads...still no calls...and movie attendance still is tanking.
I determined to not watch any movies that I wouldn't allow my children to watch...which means I haven't been to a theater since the third Lord of the Rings movie came out. Hollywood just isn't interested in making money...they want to change society to their twisted vision of the world.

I've made the same offer in previous threads...still no calls...and movie attendance still is tanking.Well, maybe when they, or their stockholders, get desperate enough they'll give us a call :)
I used to love going to the movies. Now you couldn't pay me to do it :(

"North Country," about a precedent-setting sexual harassment lawsuit, is currently playing as is "Good Night, and Good Luck," a look at political fear-mongering. Still to come is "Brokeback Mountain," in which two gay cowboys deal with how society will judge them, and there are others on the list.Jeezus H.
Yeah, there's a recipe for success--make movies that slap your audience in the face and and mock their morals, values and heroes. And they wonder why sales are down 6%. What was the final number last year? I think it was -10%. How did we ever get from John Wayne to fudge-packin' cowboys? What a friggin' disgrace.

Since when has Hollywood NOT made preachy little didactics? "American Beauty" "Coming Home" won Best Picture.

...make movies that slap your audience in the face and and mock their morals, values and heroes. You didn't read carefully. They don't want to slap your face, they want to use more a more subtle approach.
They know that the "in your face" approach does not work. They will now try to brainwash the public subliminally.
Studios will go bankrupt before they change their ideology. Hopefully, the new owners will share more mainstream views.

Studios will go bankrupt before they change their ideology. The MSM in general will tank before they relinquish their beloved religion. The Media is one of the few industries that pro-actively insults their customers.
