It seems as if there are no fatalities in Cancun as most people went high and mid in the hotels.

I hope that holds true. But I wonder how many people never made it to the hotels.

Per NBC Nightly News, nobody squealing about collapsed hotels, missing islands, or any kind of mass casualties (tourista or otherwise out of Cancun.

The video showed 2, maybe 3 feet of water in downtown Cancun, leading to a preliminary surge estimate close to the 7-11 feet predicted. Damage to buildings looked surprisingly light, one partial collapse of a large grass roofed building apparantly on a beach or waterfront, elsewhere largely cosmetic.

Still worried about 30 to 40 inches of rain over a widespread area and poorly constructed homes, but for now, no news is good news.

Some kind of blow frong is pissed and spitting at everyone. (I had no clue about this).

You may be referring to the Poison dart frog. Pretty little deadly critters.

I think it means a blow frog. We have some of those frogs that "spit". Nasty buggers!

Was a bit slow in posting the current vortex data message; was busy plotting older eye fixes into Google Earth.

Thanx. I got a bit nervous when I saw the apparent pressure drop.

Cause a pressure drop, oh pressure
Oh yeah pressure drop a drop on you
I say a pressure drop, oh pressure
Oh yeah pressure drop a drop on you

Oops, sorry about that one...

Even funnier! I'll guess it is the frog variety.

Thank you! Was looking for my "Home Thrown Hurricane Fruit Salad" recipe the other day. Haven't found it yet. Only have a couple of monster avocados left in the tree now, but the grapefruit, pecans and tangelo trees are loaded.

Oh, the liberals are quite fond of pointing to Cuba's public record

Yes, they are.

Won't your generator handle the well pump? We used our after atornado wiped out our town and the shower sure felt good every day.

I don't know how much chlorine is too much, and don't know how much is already in your water.

I do know that the plastic somehow seems to absorb the taste over time, and that they recommend 8 drops per gallon for clear water, and 16 drops per gallon for cloudy water, so there's some latitude.

If you ping me with freepmail, I'll check it out with some chemists I know.

I don't have a generator yet. Been looking at some that run on propane, since my kitchen stove and heat run off that, and a 900 gallon tank that somebody else fills is way better than a bunch of 5 gallon tanks that I have to fill, but I only lose power for a day or two max, usually 2 to 4 hours, once or twice a year.

I want both, a generator for short term outages, and a handpump for longer outages. A wood stove too.

Nasty buggers!

For the most part, frogs are a nice bunch.

... and they don't cause warts or make farting noises when stepped upon, so let's put that to rest...

A bit of good news out of Cozumel at 6PM, posted on a Cancun board--the water in the streets has gone down 5" and is continuing to recede. Police and military are out and about telling people to stay in until all has passed and water has gone down more. They've had 30" of rain.

I don't think 2 straight northeast moves totaling almost 10 miles is just a wobble. You called it.

We may or may not get one last pass from the NOAA plane before it heads back to Florida. The next plane (Air Force) isn't due for a takeoff until 9:30 Central, arriving on the scene about midnight.
