If someone gives me a list of all judicial appointments made by Bush I will gladly google them tonight at home & investigate. Or perhaps someone else knows if there's already a website out there that has done this?

I don't know of a website that summarizes the philosophies of his picks.

http://judiciary.senate.gov/noms/109.pdf <- List of nominations in 109th Congress
Confirmation Watch - 109th Congress
Confirmation Watch - 108th Congress

"I know enough to know he wasn't smart enough to get himself on the Court. And I know he didn't get much support from the Reagan administration."

Well, I believe my work is done here, everyone. For those of you confronting Howlin here and elsewhere, consider her(his?) above claim. Robert Bork 'wasn't smart enough to get himslef on the Court.'

No, howlin, he wasn't. He wasn't smart enough to be pro-abortion. He wasn't smart enough to be pro-big government. He wasn't smart enough to be pro-criminal rights. He wasn't smart enough to be anti-federalism. Put simply, he wasn't smart enough to be either liberal, or at least very deceptive about his conservatism.

And it is precisely this attitude those who oppose Miers nomination see when they see Bush acting as he is currently acting. Essentially, they see Bush saying, 'you're not smart enough to be on the Court if you're open about your conservativism.'

And this is why they are ticked off. The Miers nomination is an insult. An insult in which you happen to concur. Don't be surprised if some of those insulted don't support Bush or the Republican party in the future. As a general rule, in politics its not wise to insult your base.

>>>I knew it was just a matter of time before we heard from the mental defective wing of the conservative movement.<<<

I went from being an elitist to being mentally defective in only a couple of days? There is only one explanation. Your "Everyone who doesn't support Meirs is a Elitist" approach wasn't working. You are truly a Bush Boot-licker (and that fact hasn't changed in quite a while).

I guess your work is done then; you've exposed me as somebody who states a well founded opinion, voiced by many others.

Bye.

>>>I don't care if she is the smartest constitutional lawyer in the world.... because she is not going to change Ginsberg's mind. She isn't going to change Sutor. We just need her to vote the way we want her to. Period. That's all it's about... how will she vote?<<<

God only knows, and he aint talking. Harriet certainly doesn't know how she will vote in a year, or two, or three.

Howlin, you've got me, well, howlin! You're really too much. Yes, your's is a 'well founded opinion, voice by many others.' The only problem is, the only other places I've ever seen such an opinion voiced is on the op-ed pages of the NYT and Village Voice.

How about it? Any other conservatives think the reason Bork didn't make it on the Supreme Court was because he just 'wasn't smart enough to get himself on the Court?'

I think a point can be made for that. Bork fought a good fight, he stood on his principles..... and everyone knew where he stood.... and he wasn't confirmed. Was that the smartest thing to do if he wanted to get on the court? It was the principled thing to do and I very much respect it.... but was it the smartest?

Well, if the Republican party has truly become a party of unprincipled liars, then I wish them well in the coming election cycles. The Democrats do these things so much better.

It's like the time I was picked for Jury duty on a murder case. The defendent had a long list of priors with convictions for lesser offenses. The defense attorney says "mr kjam22... do you believe that a person convicted of a crime who serves the time has paid his debt to society and that this debt should not be brought up again". I looked him in the eye and said "absolutely, a person who has been convicted of a crime and served the punishment has absolutely paid his debt to society, and it should not be re-considered".... then I looked that the prosecution and said "as long as the punishement was applicable to the crime". And everybody was happy :)

I'll target those with bipartisan support first I suppose! ;)

Just saw Bork on CNN. What an embarassment.

He used the same lame arguments as the 5 percenters here on FR.

"She may vote the right way, and she may be a good justice, but it's a slap in the face to the conservative judicial movement."

Dude, this is politics, not an audition for sainthood. Sometimes, you have to compromise.

And you have to know when 7 gang of 14 Republicans will not support an ideological conservative.

5 percenters, LOL. Why do supporters have to not only lie and but make insults? The lameness is clearly the people who make such attacks.

It's not an insult or an attack, but my observation. Your mileage may vary.

I feel like I'm fighting the Buchanon Brigades all over again over the 2000 election.

"Blasphemy! Ban his columns from FR! Traitor! Inside the beltway elitist!"

I'd put money down that there are a few who are thinking along those lines, even on this thread.
