Good info too...strange things permeate that power stream.
Enjoy!
Thanks for the post - good one.
Your unsourced "information" is useless.
I'm sure I won't be jumping the gun by more than a week or two when I say I'm sorry to see you go...
Although your posting made a lot of sense, I still have a hard time believing that the Bush Administration could not find one candidate, NOT ONE JUDGE or law professor or whatever, in the entire country who has an acceptable non-legislative-from-the-bench conservative type of record.
Not one!! Hard to believe.
PUKIN DOG DID NOT MAKE THIS UP!....BRIT HUME SAID THE SAME THING ON THE PANEL DISCUSSION WITH CHRIS WALLACE....AND HE POINTEDLY WAS TALKING TO BILL KRISTOL!.....I heard this only a few minutes ago!...
"secret sources"?
i'm not sure why... i read the whole post and it seems to be about 60% critical thinking, 30% logic/common sense, and maybe 10% conjecture. what secret source did you need to post this?
"And I still want to know why, if Specter is supposedly adamant about not voting for someone who will toss Roe - why is he supporting Miers? what does Spector know about Miers on this issue that allows him to vote for her?"
No paper trail. It's all politics. What a surprise!
Putting it in large black font is not a substitute for gravitas. What did Brit say, and did he say all the rest in the running had skeletons, and/or lacked the votes?
with this info you have, is there any mention how roberts reaction or the rest of the supremes for that matter feel about miers nomination?

Let me help you with some of this. Being on SCOTUS 30 years after being a party animal in college, is different than flying a jet as a young man, having indulged as a young man. Gephardt back when was sort of apolgetic about his clean living ways, when the subject came up. In any event, the point is that the comment that this could in any way be a skeleton is ludicrous. If it were made an issue of, there would be a huge backlash.

Oh, heavens. I did not realize you do not know of this. Best you Google Douglas Ginsberg. USSC nominee by Ronald Reagan. Withdrew from consideration after admitting to smoking pot.
AS SHOWN BY THE COMMENTS TO YOUR POST...THE ONLY GOOD THING WE SEEM TO BE GOOD AT IS SHOOTING EACH OTHER!!!!And we wonder why the Senate can't get together, we can't even do that on this site!!!!
"The army we have is the one Mr. Rumsfeld and Cheney wanted."
When it comes to the culture war, of which the Senate is of course a crucial battleground with the prize being Lady Liberty's very honor, I want both conventional and Nuclear Option weaponry...and battalions of precinct footsoldiers between elections in every district....
"Now, you are doing the very thing you accuse PD of, making it about you."
way too frequent a happening on FR these days.
Nice to have you back!
The precise reason I respect youkeep your eyes on the goal...which is to make progress rather than throwing it all away in search of temporary satisfaction.
I really appreciate and value your optimism, and after reading this thread I'm going with courageous. It's hard to take back publicly stated conclusions, even when they were drawn without full knowledge of the facts.
As disappointing as FR is to me sometimes, it is certainly addictive. There is no where else like it. I can not tell you how upsetting it is when the optimists appear to be bowing out.
Thanks for sharing info...and thanks for staying positive.
Part of me thinks that there should be Free Republic NORTH and Free Republic SOUTH. And all the PRO Miers types should attend the FR South and the anti-Miers anti-Bush anti-anything that doesn't wear a brownshirt can bi*&h to each other on the FR North..
Glad you've joined the good side
