"If it all piles up in one place, you might have the same total amount of ice," she told the BBC News website, They have grasped the concept of three-dimensional space!

Could there be more solar activity which may contribute to this?

I bet not.
they see no relationship between density, coverage, or mass.

It could be solar, I keep reading that Mars is also experiencing global warming.

Oh right, let's just ignore the same thing happening on Mars and all the evidence about how increased active Sunspots cycles are effecting the change and cling to the "Man Made Global Warming" dogma of the Church Of Junk Science. After all, that nice fat pipeline to the Federal Treasury will get cut if the "Science" bureaucrats ever admit the truth.

Global Warming on Mars "For three Mars summers in a row, deposits of frozen carbon dioxide near Mars' south pole have shrunk from the previous year's size, suggesting a climate change in progress..."
To: F14 Pilot
This could all be due to the Sun's output increasing a bit, but that would give the environmentalists the idea that we must cut emissions even more than they demanded before.

The Arctic climate varies naturally, but the researchers conclude that human-induced global warming is at least partially responsible. What is appalling about articles like these is that they combine empirical facts with SPECULATION about the causes and present both as if they were on the same objective, 'proven' basis. Then when you challenge them on the speculative point they portray you as if you are sticking your head in the sand and denying the empirical point. Grrr.... Besides, I like the idea of global warming. Sorry about the Maldives and all, but it's going to cut my winter heating costs and we all know how important it is to save fuel these days. ;-)
