Ugh! Just saw Dan Blather on KXTA... I had to hit the mute button quickly.
The latest IR loop looks to have a pretty significant turn to the NNE. Perhpas it is just a wobble, but it looks like a turn.
Believe it or not, I saw a hurricane evac route sign where I live. Where do I live? In West Michigan along the lakeshore. LOL.
Not at all! After XV Katrina threads, it's a tough habit to break...
halliburton blew up the levees again...
Isn't Dan a little old for this type of reporting?
When do other states usually begin contraflow?
Thanks for the new thread, Nurse. I hope you get a break today before things turn past ugly tonight.
Praying hard for you and all in the path of this storm.
They've brought him out of mothballs...
The levees were fragile as it was. Plus it's raining and, apparently -- although there is no definitive word yet on what kind -- at least one damaged levy has been breeched (over the top as some are saying). There was also a report of "seepage" at a levy yesterday. But all of this cannot be do to just rain. The surge from Rita must be closer and higher for NO than they can handle. Word was that 3 inches of rain was all the levees could handle and, obviously, we've surpassed that much already.
The mistake was Blanco allowing the looting during Katrina, which caused people in higher areas of Houston to panic just as much as low areas.
Who wants to stick around in Houston and hope opportunistic gangs aren't lying in wait ready to loot, rape, kill for drugs, etc.
Thanks again, for all you do.
Looking at the the mapping, we're expecting heavy inland flooding possible here. I'm not sure what's going to happen next, appears to be a little northward job according to Lyons on TWC...
Even if it weakens, will still be at a three according to Lyons.
Did you read the last sentence at the top of the thread summary?
MSNBC news: President Bush heading to Texas...
Nauti, thanks so much for the new thread and for all the threads. I appreciate your hard work.
I'm lurking but leaving the posting to those in harms way. If I hear anything important or helpful, I'll post it.
Being stuck on highway 146 and 59 for 24 hours I started thinking "oh no I am going to turn into a hurricane Katrina refugee!"
My girlfriend called me that was headed to San Antonio. They turned around and went to Corpus!
What are the worst 3's in history?
