The hysterical bleating and grandstanding that lies ahead from people like Chuckie Schumer is just tap dancing for the benefit of his liberal political donors.
The big war comes with the next nomination, unless Bush taps somebody like Bill Clinton or Mario Cuomo for the seat.
If Specter were to support a filibuster of the next nominee, he will be stripped of his chairmanship in prompt order. Pay attention to not what he says but what he does.
1.They didn't get all the documents..
2. He wasn't forthcoming in his answers
3. They want to know the next nominee before they vote..
It will not be a party-line vote..I expect 35 or so Dems to vote against. Their hope will be that the country will buy the garabage in points 1-3 above..enough to cut them slack for voting NO..and then try to build upon that to justify filabuistering the next nominee..
BTW..Re Hillary, the titular head of the party, and presumptive nominee..well..if you searched her public comments the last two months..you woudn't even know their is a nomination..

Specter supported Scalia and Thomas.
Publicity is what he craves.

I really hope lightning does not strike me for saying this, but when Specter was totally bald, he looked exactly like Dr. Evil in the Austin Powers movies.
