I understand your sentiment but I want Schroader off the world stage NOW.

When Germany's leader comes to the White House I don't want it to be that pos Schroader. His anti american rhetoric to get him elected is getting old.

Any Euro freepers the election in dresdin wasn't held because one of the candidates died at the last minute, some are saying that the election could swing 3 seats so the two main parties would be tied again.

Having this election on October 2 is quite unfair because the extreme left will vote for schroader in this district knowing how crucial it could be. If there were other districts elections held after the election in some cases the fdp would have voted with Merkel. If the Dresdin election had been held today most likely CDU would have barely won but it being two weeks later is trouble in that district with the far left vote, hopefully we won't need it or only 2 seats change.

Never mind, found out in the AP story what each party is. She should let Schroeder stay in power. More econmic bumps along the way for him to take the fall for.

Much better to be the loyal opposition when there is no mandate, and when the future is likely to provide plenty of ammunition against whomever holds power.

I'll bet the DUmmies that voted for Gerhard would re-elect Hitler if given the chance.

I can certainly agree with your point on Schoeder. However if putting up with him a bit longer helps make him disappear long term, I can live with that. As the saying goes, Revenge is a dish best eaten cold.

This is the worst possible outcome for Germany. Those SPD voters who are comfortable with the current stagnation have pulled off a deadlock with the Union voters who realize the necessity for change. Another complicating factor is that the upper house of parliament, the Bundesrat, remains in the hands of the conservative Union. A continuing Schroeder chancellorship would face that obstacle at every turn. The charmless Merkel confronts the smiling confidence man (Hochstapler) Schroeder and Germany is the loser.

I remember the MSM predicting that Gore would form a "shadown government" after the 2000 Election. We all know how successful that was. Maybe Shroeder and Gore and cry together over beer and wienerschnietzel.

Shadow Government

How diappointing this must have been to his followers.
Even though he lost by a whisker, he could at least have formed a "5 O'Clock Shadow Government":

Shadow government--What the he11? Sounds like something out a cloak-and-dagger novel. What silliness.

It's a coalition government, and there's really not much difference between Merkel's 35% and Schroeder's 33%. This election isn't over until somebody scrapes up 51% from the other parties.

Pretty damned irresponsible of her if she does. Someone who would leave an unfit person in office in spite of it being in their power to remove him just so they won't get "blamed" for future problems is truly someone who has abdicated all moral authority to lead.

A loss by Shroeder is a win for the US. He opposed us and loss. It will make other communists think twice in the future.

Strange thinking here. He hasn't lost, he hasn't won (because the Communist left party took away crucial votes from him). Are you sure you've got the right election? Try reading a few other threads on the subject to get a better understanding.
